Hi everyone,
We're so sorry to hear about the concerns you've been experiencing with your Uconnect 5 and Apple CarPlay capabilities. Our Uconnect 5 system was developed to better support wireless CarPlay/Android Auto. Having devices plugged in via cable may cause your Uconnect some confusion since it will be collecting information from both wireless
and connected sources. I kindly recommend taking full advantage of our Wireless Android Auto and Wireless Charging Pad features! This way we can avoid the possibility of your cords being defective, data sharing settings being adjusted, tangled cords, etc.
If you'd like to perform a reset of your Uconnect system, I've included some helpful information, below.
Soft Reset - This option performs a cold reboot which completely restarts the radio and all peripheral devices in the radio.
- Customer prefers the "hard button" reset option:
- Press and hold the "power button/knob" in for 10 seconds or more
- Customer prefers the "soft button" reset options:
- Open the VEHICLE app --> scroll to SETTINGS --> scroll to RESET and choose RESTART RADIO
- FACTORY RESET wipes saved user data from the radio and reverts everything back to factory default settings. (Presets, Favorites, Profiles, Paired Phones will be cleared)
In order to utilize Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, it's important that the pairing process is done in the correct order since settings interact with one-another and can indeed turn off settings that you had previously enabled.
- "Forget" your mobile device and Uconnect system on the respective units
- On Apple device Go to Settings > General > CarPlay > Forget this Device
- On Uconnect System, go to Phone > Settings > Select Device in List and Delete the device
- On the Phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth > Unpair/Forget Existing "Uconnect" and duplicates
- Ensure that your mobile phone's software and Uconnect software are both up to date. Restart phone and pair again.
- Make sure Siri is on & CarPlay is not restricted
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and ensure CarPlay is enabled
- Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car.
- Set up CarPlay again
I hope this provides a little bit of clarification to some of the questions I was seeing! Please feel free to send us a private message if you have specific questions pertaining to your personal vehicle.
Thanks,
Courtney
