2022 Uconnect 5 12.0 Glitches

I went wheeling last weekend (from date of post) and while I was "off-grid" with no cell reception (obviously) the Uconnect 5 crashed while I was on the Off-Road page using the front camera. Took a complete crap and restarted. And just a couple days ago (from date of post) while I was driving down the street listening to music using Pandora on Android Auto, the buzzing sound came through the speakers as if getting feedback interference and Uconnect 5 crashed and restarted. Since then I have been getting a message on start-up that Uconnect Box has an error and that it needs service. BUT, besides the message it works fine.

Anyone else getting his? I never had this problem with my 2020 Rebel's Uconnect 4.

Thanks. I’ve also now noticed that when I shut off the truck and everything powers down there is a audible sound coming from what would appear to be the mic’s on the ceiling. Hope it’s not the dreaded amp issue other are having with the ANC…

First Ram truck, second Uconnect (2015 Wrangler).

Only driven the truck twice, once from the dealership 180miles and the other just a 30mile drive. During the drive home I was using Waze through Apple Car Play in the full screen. On the drive home the full screen would flash and go to split screen and back a few times. The drive yesterday, while using Apple Car Play using Google Maps for directions I went to check a phone message and lost the music audio out of the front speakers, and I was never able to get it back for the entire ride. I haven't checked to see if it's back, dropped it off for a wrap and tints and had to run back home.

When I get the truck back I will have to see if there software is up to date, but in the meantime, has anyone else seen these glitches?

@RamCares UConnect has been pretty stable, which one annoying bug that keeps popping up. the temperature setting icons in the upper left and right disappear. They reappear after a restart of the radio via settings, but then go away a day or 2 later. I haven’t been able to reliably reproduce it… had thought it was remote start that killed them, but then went a few days without using remote start to test and no dice, they disappeared anyway. I’ll keep looking for the trigger. I’m running S23.13

I have had the same issue multiple times... screen blacks out with a loud buzzing then resets a few minutes later.

If you guys haven't already, check your fuses. Open the fuse box and push them all in. I finally did the other day and every single one of them needed fully seated. I finally did this because the other night I was driving and hit a bump and that is what triggered the radio to 'glitch'. I haven't had the opportunity to drive the truck at length again since I seated the fuses, but the coincidence of the bump and the glitch was just a little too much to overlook.

Just checked mine also all loose. Also found out my tailgate rubs on the bed so that’s great. Just ain’t right on a 90k truck to have this kind of QC issues

My Apps button goes to apps and then 1/2 second later right back to whatever I was on. Guess it’s time for a reset?

Pulled into the driveway tonight and was notified of another Uconnect update. I let it install but didn't stay in the truck afterwards to see the version number or what (if anything) changed. I'll poke around tomorrow and see what's up.

After 3 hard drives and a new touchscreen and still no improvement Ram cares is forcing through all the updates since my system is stuck at S21b.5. They claim that will fix it, I'm not holding my breath. On a side note since the last hard drive replacement I've lost my offroad pages. dealer didn't know what I was talking about, Ram cares pawned me off to Ram Connect and supposedly a specialist will call me in a few days to talk to me. This is my 5th Ram truck and never been so dissapointed, if the truck isn't at the dealer i'm on the phone with multiple people all the time!

Who did you talk to about pushing an upgrade? I called Ram Connect and they were less than helpful (“take it to a dealer”).

Ram 3500, -22, still on S21B.5.

According to the guy I talked to at Ram cares he said they would have the techs push through all the updates early next week and I'd get them one after the other till I was current. When asked about my missing off road pages he said that would be a Ram connect issue and that Ram cares deals with the whole vehicle while Ram connect is strictly connected services issues.

Can’t speak for anyone else but from my experiences with “B” I would wholeheartedly disagree. Mine has updated at least twice. Currently running what I believe to be the latest software version (not near my truck right now) and it has undoubtedly been the most stable and reliable version. My truck came with “B” loaded and it was very glitchy. I am running the latest iOS as well and both have been far more reliable. As a matter of fact, since the latest update, I have not encountered a single glitch or error.

That’s the problem. One persons success is another’s glitchy nightmare.

If you sentiments were universal, or the majority, or hell even a little more widespread I’d hope for the updates.

But at this point the updated run the gamut from perfect to “not working at all” with no clear cut consensus.

Yes it’s hard to imagine how there can be such a wildly different experience for a group of people all using the same product, mass produced in the same place, utilizing the same components, and the same software. It’s almost like the software has a mind of its own. I don’t blame you for wanting to stay with what is currently….”working”….especially when it’s an integral part of the vehicle. Just by chance, have you checked to make sure all of the fuses in your truck are fully seated?

As a side note, after this most recent software update it seems my weather app, which was previously unreliable at best, has now started to function properly….regularly.

Well it’s a new radio for me whenever it arrives lol. Still stuck on B and it started with the random black screen of death multiple times and I got lucky it did it while I was at the dealer with my ongoing rambox saga… will update y’all next week when I pick it up. Till then have a great weekend!
