21x24 Gatorback Mud Flaps Rears

This exact set actually:
Did you have to do any drilling or did they bolt right on? With or without brackets?

If I remember correctly, the fronts are direct bolt ons. The rears requires you to drill a few holes in the plastic wheel wells of your truck. No metal drilling.

Can be done by a single person but having two sets of hands makes it easier to install the rears. Can be installed without removing rear wheels if you have a right angle adapter for the drill bit.

I would not install the rears without the (optional) brackets. It's a lot of weight to be held just by the plastic wells.

Could not agree more about the brackets. I don't get why they sell them as an option. They should be required. Not only for the weight, but doe the ease of aligning them in the wheel well. I am really glad I chose to order mine with the brackets.

So if I've read through most of the thread correctly, the only real upgrade on OEM wheels is a 255/80/17 tire, which may or may not need spacers for the rear, and probably not a good idea if I'm pulling 20k with a 4k pin box weight?

255/80/17 or 255/85/17 (with very limited choices)

A thin spacer is NOTHING. It requires no modifications. You wouldn't think twice about installing a centering ring that comes with your wheels? I see them just the same as a no-brainer. They are cheap and easy to install.

Not sure why it wouldn't be a good idea for pulling the mentioned weight if tires are rated for the load. The 255/80 tires do lower your final drive ratio from 4.10 to 3.93 (3.82 with 255/85). But a stock 3.73 HO is rated 32K anyway.

I've read and re-read this thread and another similar... just seeking clarification and updates....
My future scenario: 1. stock wheels 17x6 wheels. 2. tires > LT255/85R17 A/T Baja Boss from Mickey Thompson (9.8" width and 34" tall installed +/-); will run low end of tire pressures for daily except as needed for towing.
Stock highway tire 235/80R17 has 9.3" width. My math says rear tires would move in .5 each for rear space reduction of 1" with new tires on stock wheels.

Anyone running same or very similar can confirm if you are running WITHOUT a spacer on rears? If yes, what is your spacing?
Anyone have an educated answer to whether I NEED a spacer?

Will Discount Tire install a spacer? Les Schwab?
Anyone gotten either of them to install a 255/85 tire on stock wheel?

Feel free to respond with any other useful info you have.
PJ - did you ever install the 255/85/17s? With a spacer?

Curious how people are running 1/2” spacers on the 19+ trucks. My studs barely stick out of the lug nut with no spacer. You can see the last thread. Are longer studs available?

I’ve got the same question! Was just looking at buying a set of toyo open countrys 255/80r17 for my 2022 night edition dually. The studs are identical to yours. A small spacer wouldn’t fit. Makes me think I could do the 1.5” spacer without trimming the oringial studs since they’re so short!

I just installed some 255/80R17 Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W's. They fit without a spacer but I only have about 1/4" space between the lug areas of the side tread.

I picked up some 1/4" spacers but don't really feel good about installing with the short studs.

I am also not a fan of the bolt on spacers.

I did find these the other day but the price is crazy. https://www.wheeladapter.com/product/dodge-ram-19-and-newer-8x200-in-between-dually-wheel-spacers

Bolt on spacers are the only safe way to do it they have used bolt on spacers on the front of dually for decades no issue … and 1/4” is not enough be sure to not tow anything or load the truck thats asking for a blow out

Tires look good! But yes I agree they’re a little tight inbetween. I don’t know if a 1/4 spacer would fit with the lugs being so short. No threads sticking out after installing the spacer probably. I just ended up paying the price for a 1.5” bolt on spacer. If I have to trim the studs oh well. I’ll post picture of what I end up doing when it all arrives!

So I posted this in a couple other threads on this site. I have a 1/2” spacer, 255 85 17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs. The sidewall is super aggressive. So aggressive, that the tire lugs in between the dually are about 1/4” apart. I don’t want to trim the studs so my next option would be 2” bolt on spacers. What’s everybody’s opinion.
