I am not a fan of the Nexen tires on my 2021, so when my 2022 comes in I think I would like to oversize the tires with a BFG AT KO2 version that would visually fill the wheel wells better. The OEM tire sizes just looks funny to me, it looks to small.

So what can can I do while doing no lift, no level, no spacers while maintaining the OEM alloy alcoa wheels?

255’s I’ve heard are as big as you can go on stock rims.

Hmm. Ran some numbers.

Stock is 235mm x 80% aspect and 17" wheel. Those are 9.25" wide by 31.8" tall.

255 in BFG drops you to a 70% aspect ratio...
So 255mm x 70% on a 17" wheel is 10.03"wide by 31.05" tall. Almost an inch shorter. That's the wrong direction!

So if it would fit, a BFG 265/70-17 would be 10.43" x 31.6".... still shorter.

That's very disheartening.

What's the limiting factor in going bigger, is it the dual tires running that stops you first, or is it the front tires rubbing the control arms or bumper that bites you first?

Its the duals touching in the center that limits you. You could go bigger with a 2” spacer in the rear as many do…
A nice AT in 255/85r17 will be what i buy when i burn up the Nexen junks. 255/85r17 is almost 34" tall and shouldnt require a rear spacer.
I thought 255/85 was for 16s did you find some for 17s? All i can find is 255/80r17

2” is pretty wide and would make the outside tire stick out past the dually fender. Some don’t mind that, but I think it looks trashy.

mickey Thompson just came out with a nice AT tire in the 255/85r17 size.

should be a sweet tire.

The reason i say 2” is anything less you usually have to cut the trucks wheel studs and thats a no go for me….. the M/T would be one hell of a tire providing they wear 1/2 decent…

If you follow that link that I posted on the tire he mentioned, it has a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty. So if you bought from an authorized dealer, you would at least get a prorated replacement set if they wore early.

Heh.... My expected delivery date is Jan/Feb of 2022.... It's going to be a while.
Well i guess i will be here waiting lol, i am pretty interested to see how they will look, does the site list the actual size they will be or only the listing size? I have found M/T to be close to advertised size

Is that the date for the tires or your truck?
If I get my Limited Longhorn before April I'll be surprised. But here is the catch..... if it pushes to much into 2022 then I'll start looking at the 2023 trucks to see if the ZF medium duty is going to come to the Cummins. If that's in the near horizon, I will very likely tell the dealer to sell my order if it ever comes, transfer my $1000 down payment to the 23 order.... and if not, keep that $1000 and buy yourself something nice. Then I'll order the 2023 with the 6.7/ZF.

I'm not exactly suffering over here with 4K miles on my 2021 Larami...

Ride is not much different...just a little road noise, but less than the more aggressive treads on my '17 1500

Dude, that truck looks amazing. Those tires/wheels are the perfect compliment to the truck color. I usually don't like aftermarket wheels on duallies for some reason, but this is easily the best version I've ever seen. Color is spot-on, design is the right mix of aggressive but not blingy. Excellent job.
