I had my cab mounts retorqued a few weeks ago and now the rattling is back, on both sides now. It usually only happens when hitting washboard type roads on the passenger side. Sounds like a golf ball rattling around in a milk jug. I got in the back seat and tried to trace it to other things while my wife drove and it kept sounding like it was behind the seat, but it could be resonating from the cab mounts to the back of the cab? I’m not taking the seat out to see, I will leave that to the dealership under warranty!!!! Gonna try and take it back after this virus thing is over to see what they know about a possible permanent fix to the body mounts.

Curt sounds like mine. In my mega cab there are storage bins behind the seats. I haven't checked but it also sounds like the door/cover/lids for those don't latch great and they vibrate and create that noise but others on here have said same noise non mega cab so leads me to believe thats not it

I hate to sound so picky but for 70k I did expect to get a better built truck! I am a Chrysler Retiree and feel a sense of loyalty and figured by having this one built it would be good? I traded in a 2019 1500 that the dealer told me would pull a 8x16 bike trailer with mine and my wife’s Harley’s in it and that was a no go! Absolutely terrible mileage and trailer was all over the road at 65 mph. Truck had factory Class 4 hitch and factory trailer brake controller. Took me 240 gallons to go 1200 miles.....that’s 5mpg pulling a total of around 6k lbs and truck was rated for 13900lbs. 8 speed tranny kept sounding like it was gonna blow up, it would kick down and go to 4K rpm and stay there until you hit the brake and slowed to 45......:-0 I thought I would never make it home!
Dealer and FCA made it right and I ordered and bought this 2019 2500 CTD that’s pulls like a train at an average of 16mpg. It’s all the other “issues” that has me thinking maybe I need to go to a GMC Denali next. I get tired of hearing from the dealer........”that’s normal”. Again, sorry for the rant!
I’m considering a Ford by summer. I like this truck, but I’ve had so many little minor issues that are more annoying and can never be replicated at the dealer. I also find the limited seats to be uncomfortable and I think the Laramie seats are a complete joke for a truck at that price point. I think the transmissions used in the diesels feel very out of date too. I test drove a 2020 Platinum with the 10 speed, man it shifts smooth, lots of power, you barely feel the shifts and the seats are greatly improved from the 2017-2019 models. It felt like I was sitting on air cushions. However the interior isn’t as nice as my limited and that small touchscreen is a joke. Give me a Ram interior and exterior styling with a Ford powertrain! I actually found the 6.4 with the new 8 speed to be more impressive than the Cummins with its outdated transmissions.

Man, as I just said on another forum, if new ones don’t fix it, then this isn’t just a bad batch and all trucks should be having this issue. Which maybe is the case, but it just doesn’t bother many people.....

I also have the front end clunk that occurs when turning going over bumps and such. This supposedly is body mounts to.
I took my 3500 in for the clunking when turning and I was told it’s not body mounts and they don’t know what it is. Couldn’t replicate of course. Never heard of this issue.

Yes!!! Mine is just a Crew Cab. It may be petty to some but at $70k I expect it to not rattle. I really do t think it’s too much to ask for. Hoping they do a recall or TSB with a proper cab mount!!!!

It’s sad that several of us loyal RAM people, especially those of us that spent our careers at Chrysler are considering switching manufacturers...:-( FCA needs to get deeper into the QC game and pay attention to DETAIL!!!! It can’t be that hard!!!!

When I bring mine to dealer I will tell them I can duplicate this and other sounds that it will be going in for and I don't want it back until they are duplicated and fixed...I will not take a can't duplicate or it's normal for an answer. If they can't duplicate on my truck we will go for a ride and I will duplicate.... if it's normal get a new one off the lot and let's go for a ride and u duplicate it on a new truck...that will be my answer I encourage you guys to do the same....as for ford and gmc they have there problems. And ford left a bad taste in my mouth 6.0l

I agree!!!!! I too have thought about the GMC Denali HD and have looked at the same one twice but as I do more research I am finding that they too have their issues.......Powertrain,interiors and noises...:-/ I really love my RAM and I’m hopeful that these issues can be fixed!!!! Rest assured they will want me to take a huge hit on trade in and I think it would be foolish at this point to spend several thousand just to possibly run into the same problems........? We didn’t talk price difference as I cannot trade till the end of May, but I’m sure it would be a ridiculous amount

I truly appreciate all the help you have provided already Mark. I will say my dealership is working hard to address my issues but it would be nice if FCA’s engineers would give these dealers more help as they should know what is causing these issues.

I absolutely agree that FCA needs to step up the QC, big time. They also need to have features dialed in, and not just roll out gimmicks. While "two wrongs don't make a right", as my Mom liked to say, I have owned GM and Ford products, and the grass is definitely not greener, their attentiveness to customers is not better, and their dealers are just as apt to fall back on the good old, "unable to duplicate complaint". It is industry-wide.

I agree, they all have their issues. My 2018 Ford F-350, the only issues I had were with the 7 pin connector and I hate that annoying Ford chime. The truck however never rattled, never made popping noises when turning or going over bumps, I felt like it was a more solidly built truck, but the interior lacked compared to the Ram. I think they're both excellent trucks, but I did enjoy driving the Ford more and like the larger cab, but I like the other things about the Ram.

I can’t believe that there hasn’t been someone post about a fix to this rattle that we all are experiencing. Everyone has the noise in the exact same place, rear seat area behind passenger front seat. I’m about ready to pull the back seat out of mine since the virus has most of the dealerships shut down. Like I’ve said before, it may be petty but it’s driving me NUTS!!!! and our roads here in Indiana are the worst so it rattles all the time.....:-( Hoping someone out there finds the issue and has a solid answer for the fix. Not real sure that it’s the cab mounts as the noise seems too dominant from behind the rear seat. As soon as I can get mine into the dealer and they can find the issue, I promise I will post the details!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the front end clunk In my truck has distracted me from the rattle. Have to take it one problem at a time. Love my truck but going over bumps I just cringe. Pretty disappointed so far in my 60k HD truck that doesn’t seem very heavy duty. At least the interior is nice though...,

Edit: That video is 100% the rattle I’m hearing. How is this issue not fixed?

Hate it that so many of us are having the same exact problems and after all the help we have requested through RamCares that the info taken in by them hasn’t caused the FCA engineers to put out a TSB or a Recall for these cab mounts and the front ends. It’s very disheartening!! And I really hate to place the blame on the Assy.plant in Mexico not putting quality into these trucks but come on....:-/ And I understand they only install what they are sent parts wise, so QC needs to be stepped up all the way around! Let’s GO FCA, get in the BallGame if you want to continue to have Trucks ofThe Year!!!!!! Your not gonna do it this way!
