CAUGHT: 2023 Ram 2500 Limited Night Edition Mega Cab 4×4:
Some New Updates Are Coming For The 4.5 Gen Heavy Duty...
In January, we showed you the first spy photos of the minor updates coming to the 2023 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty lineup. This included a new Rebel package for the Ram 2500, a revised hood design, and a set of new exterior mirrors. Since then, there hasn’t been a lot of new news for Heavy Duty with the exception of a leaked image of a new digital gauge cluster due to debut on 2023 Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty models.
However, our spy photographers have caught a 2023 Ram 2500 Limited Night Edition Mega Cab 4×4 prototype out on public roads, giving us a better look at that new mirror design.
Since 2000, the Ram Heavy Duty pickups have offered what some people have called the “moose mirrors”. The mirrors could go from a wide-angle horizontal layout, flipping over to a vertical layout for better viewing for towing a trailer. While the moose mirrors have been effective, other manufacturers have come up with more technically advanced options. Well, that is about to change.
According to our sources, the new mirror design will be available in both power and manual applications. They will also house power and heated glass and spotter glass, LED puddle lights, blind-spot indicators, 360-degree camera, rear- and forward-facing spotlight, LED turn signal, and a new tow camera. Most of the features have been adapted into the moose mirrors, but now there will be no need to get out and turn them vertically.
Instead, as you can see on these units attached to this 2023 Ram 2500 Limited Night Edition Mega Cab 4×4 prototype, they will be telescoping as well.
We can also see an all-new hood design, which won’t be just for the new Ram 2500 Rebel model which we saw back in January. It appears that certain 2023 models will get a new “Sport Performance Hood” design, similar to the Ram 1500 featuring heat extractor vents in the hood.
It leads us to believe that the available Sport Performance Hood option will follow a similar availability pattern on the Heavy Duty as it does on Ram 1500. That should make it available on Rebel, Laramie Sport, Laramie Night Edition, and Limited Night Edition with the addition of the off-road-oriented Power Wagon as well.
The 2023 Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty should make its way into production, in Q3 2022.
