Ram Recalls 65,348 Trucks Over Instrument Cluster Failure

Software Glitch May Disable Critical Safety Displays Across Multiple Models

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 65,348 units of its 2025 to 2026 Ram 1500/2500/3500 pickups and 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab trucks for a software error may cause the instrument panel (I/P) display to fail.

Without those alerts, a driver could unknowingly continue operating the truck in an unsafe condition. According to federal safety documentation, this increases the risk of a crash without prior warning.

The Core Issue: A Software Failure With Real Consequences

At the center of the recall is a 3.5-inch instrument panel cluster supplied by Marelli North America. Due to a software defect, the system can become completely inoperative.

When that happens, the driver may lose access to:

  • Gear selection indicator
  • Brake system warning lights
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) alerts
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warnings

Because of this, the affected trucks fail to meet multiple Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) tied to braking systems, lighting, and occupant safety systems, including:

  • No. 102: “Transmission Shift Position Sequence”
  • No. 105 “Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems”
  • No. 108 “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”
  • No. 126 “Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles”
  • No. 135 “Light Vehicle Brake Systems”
  • No. 138 “Tire Pressure Monitoring System”
  • No. 208 “Occupant Crash Protection”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an I/P display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection, and warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash.

Production Scope and Timeline

The recall covers trucks built between October 2023 and August 2025, depending on the model.

This wide production window shows just how broadly this issue spread across Stellantis’ Ram lineup—impacting both retail buyers and fleet/commercial customers.

How Common Is the Problem?

Interestingly, Stellantis estimates that only about 1% of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect.

However, because the issue directly impacts safety-critical systems, federal regulations require all potentially affected vehicles to be recalled—not just those that have already experienced failures.

Recall Chronology

2026 Ram 3500 Tradesman 3.5-inch TFT Cluster. (MoparInsiders).
  • On January 21, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into inoperative IPCs in some Ram pickups and Chassis Cab vehicles built with 3.5-inch IPCs.
  • Between January 2026 and March 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering and Manufacturing to review the issue, understand potential failure modes, and to determine the suspect population.
  • On March 18, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized that a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to inoperative IPCs, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 571.102, 571.105, 571.108, 571.126, 571.135, 571.138, and 571.208.
  • On April 2, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that noncompliances to various Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards potentially exist in certain vehicles.
