Ram Recalls 6,605 Heavy Duty Trucks For Critical Safety Issue

Faulty Steering Column Module Could Disable Stability Control

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 6,605 units of its 2026 Ram 2500 pickups due to a potential issue with the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) that may result in a loss of Electronic Stability Control (ESC). As a result, these vehicles do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126, which governs ESC performance.

It is estimated that only about 0.5% of the affected population may experience this defect.

In vehicles where the issue is present, an internal fault within the SCCM can cause a loss of ESC functionality at a critical moment when it is expected to intervene. This condition increases the risk of a crash and may occur without any prior warning to the driver. No warning indicators are present before the failure. After the SCCM resets, the ESC warning light will illuminate in the instrument panel (I/P) cluster.

The issue is limited to a defined production window between September 13, 2025, and November 15, 2025. This timeframe reflects when the suspect SCCM units were introduced into and later removed from the manufacturing process, based on warranty data and assembly plant quality records. Vehicles built outside of this period are not impacted, nor are units that were repaired before leaving the plant or those that have already been in service for more than one month.
