Ram Recalls 6,605 Heavy Duty Trucks For Critical Safety Issue
Faulty Steering Column Module Could Disable Stability Control

The issue is limited to a defined production window between September 13, 2025, and November 15, 2025. This timeframe reflects when the suspect SCCM units were introduced into and later removed from the manufacturing process, based on warranty data and assembly plant quality records. Vehicles built outside of this period are not impacted, nor are units that were repaired before leaving the plant or those that have already been in service for more than one month.
Recall Chronology –
- On January 27, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (TSRC) organization opened an investigation into some 2026MY Ram 2500 vehicles potentially built with a suspect SCCM.
- From January 2026 through March 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality to understand potential root cause, customer consequence and vehicle scope.
- From January 2026, through March 2026, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of field records and customer assistance records to understand potential customer consequences.
- On March 18, 2026, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to a condition potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 126.
- On April 10, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to FMVSS No. 126 exists in certain vehicles.

Dealers will replace the SCCM at no cost to owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 7, 2026. Owners can contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 36D for more information. Affected Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) is also searchable on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website beginning on April 23, 2026.
