The Dodge M37 Power Wagon is a legendary truck that has been used by the military since its introduction in 1951. Known for its ruggedness and durability, this three-quarter-ton, 4×4 pickup has now been given a comprehensive two-year $150,000 nut and bolt frame-off restoration, resulting in a stunning vehicle that is sure to turn heads.
Completed in 2020, the restoration involved the use of high-quality components and materials throughout. The truck now features a 408 cubic inch 485 horsepower ATK Chrysler Magnum 408 stroker V8 engine, rated at an impressive 535 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is equipped with Sniper fuel injection, MSD ignition, a serpentine front accessory drive, and a Champion aluminum radiator with an electric fan.
A 5-speed NV4500 manual transmission connects the engine to the axles, which have been sourced from a 1982 Chevrolet K20 pickup. The front axle is an 8-lug Dana 44, while the rear is a corporate 14-bolt. An NP205 2-speed transfer case provides the necessary gearing for off-road use.
The suspension has also been upgraded, with custom off-road design leaf springs and hangers, Bilstein shocks, and front air-bump stops. The truck also features one-ton crossover steering with heavy-duty knuckles, a front sway bar, and 4-wheel disc brakes.
The body of the M37 has been media blasted and coated with Upol primer, followed by RM epoxy and a Glasurit Porsche Slate Grey paint using Glasurit clear coat. A Black Raptor underside, bed, and interior coating have also been applied. The bed is covered by a Boyce Equipment custom-fitted fiberglass hardtop.
Inside, the black and red interior features Procar bucket seats, an Ididit tilt steering column, and a Lecarra steering wheel. A DOM tubing roll hoop with 3-point seat belts provides added safety, while Classic Instruments bomber gauges keep track of the truck’s vital signs. The truck also features a Sony DSX-GS80 head unit, Rockford Fosgate speakers, an 8-inch subwoofer mounted under the passenger seat, and mil-spec LED lighting throughout.
The M37 Power Wagon is scheduled to cross the Mecum Glendale auction block on Friday, March 31st. With its impressive specifications and impeccable restoration, this truck is sure to fetch a high price and find a new home with a collector who appreciates its historical significance and rugged appeal.
