RECALL: Ram Recalls 142,150 Fourth-Gen Trucks For SCCM

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 142,150 units of its fourth-generation Ram Trucks for a steering column control module issue.

FCA US, LLC has announced a safety recall on a specific 2023 Ram 1500 Classic (DS), Ram 3500 10K Chassis Cab (DF), as well as 2023 and 2024 Ram 2500 (DJ), Ram 3500 (D2), Ram 3500 Chassis Cab (DD), and Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab (DP) vehicles.

Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a steering column control module (“SCCM”) turn signal self-canceling anti-jam component out of specification or an internal short circuit on the SCCM printed circuit board (“PCB”).

The steering column control module may cause the high beams to activate when the turn signal is used or activate the turn signal when the high beams are used. In addition, the turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 requirements, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

A turn signal that remains active after a completed turn may cause surrounding drivers to misunderstand the intent to change vehicle direction. High beam activation when the turn signal switch is activated may reduce oncoming drivers’ visibility. Either of these conditions may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
