Adding adaptive cruise

My truck already had traction control, it is a Hemi so the button was in the lower switch bank. The question at had was if I could use the Cummins screen that also had a traction button. I did not end up installing that screen so that answer remains unknown. I was able to add the screen with LDW and it works.

Now the question is… do I try the Comma 3 self driving system

Yeah that’s the same question I have before I buy an Aux switch panel.

Absolutely.
Jimmy - thanks for all the info on this thread! I was kind of surprised when my new 2022 2500 Longhorn Limited (Cummins) did not have ACC. I got spoiled with it with my last truck. A couple of questions:

- The part number you referenced for the wiring harness 68517609AA is listed for a 2021 model on the Mopar website. Is it the same part number for 2022?
- My truck has mirror 68312206AA. I'm assuming I will need to buy the other mirror you referenced above 68325128AA?

I just got finished doing this project. I also ended up adding LDW which took an extra few seconds. Well worth the investment for ACC, LDW I'd probably skip except I have a Comma 3 being delivered today to make my 2500 a full self driving machine :)

Yes, you will need a new mirror or you will need to cut the current mirror mount as it has the high/low headlight sensor on it and will not fit with the DASM. I have the correct mirror you will need from a 2021 wrecked truck. the wire harness retainer clip is broken so the plug slides in and out but it is otherwise functional. $50 See post #24 for what your mirror looks like and why it won't work without some metal cutting...

That is the correct wiring harness for your truck as well.

Thanks Josh - I see above that you bought the system to do the calibration. If I end up tackling this project, I may meet up with you in TX (in in Louisiana) for the mirror and calibration (hey, you offered :))

I am more than nervous, to say the least, about doing this and taking the truck to the dealership for the calibration! I can just hear the words "warranty cancellation!"

No worries! You bet, I made the drive from a well know dealer in your area home, its a nice drive WITH ACC! It was frustrating coming home and realizing I didn't have ACC. :) Come on by, it take all of a 15 minute drive to get it out of plant mode and calibrated. Besides getting the new windshield installed ( I went OEM glass cause I'm just OCD and apparently have too much $ in my pocket), the whole project took me an afternoon to actually get done.

The Comma 3 looks awesome! I did notice on their website that the 1/2 ton is supported. Are you having to modify anything to make it work with the 3/4 ton?

The 1500 is "officially" supported. The 2500/3500 has a team of folks working to make it official but it works on the 2500. There is a discord dedicated just to this and there is some good headway. There is a fork for the Comma for the HD trucks. The 1500 harness works so nothing special is needed. The 1500 uses the same DASM setup. Steering is currently limited to speeds over 36 MPH so city driving is a bit limited currently but there are bounties in place to overcome this and we hope to have some new test forks for this soon.,

This is everything needed to add ACC:
-Rear view mirror adapter- 68338659AA
-Lower mirror cover- 6PA25TX7AA
-Upper mirror cover- 6PA26TX7AA
-(3) DASM mounting nuts- 6509581AA
-Windshield (or equivalent aftermarket part number)- 68362490AB
-Adaptive cruise steering wheel switch- 68365332AC
-DASM/mirror harness (without cab lights)- 68517603AA
-DASM/mirror harness (with cab lights)- 68517609AA
-DASM- The part number is different for each model year, and so far, a used DASM can not be used. I’m in the middle of testing whether it matters which model year part number is used, and a viable solution to clear the original VIN out of a used one so it can be a cheaper retrofit.
2019- 56029825AG (I’m not sure if this one is capable of lane assist)
2020- 68454269AG (I’m not sure if this one is capable of lane assist)
2020- 68462656AF
2021- 68484693AD
2022- 04672894AB

When you get the windshield installed, MAKE SURE to have them remove any charges for reinstalling sensors, or calibrating sensors.
You will be installing the DASM yourself, and you’ll have to have the dealership run the calibration. Safelite, or any window installer that uses asTech software (most do) are not capable of taking the new DASM out of plant mode for the calibration. Plus, they charge about $450 for the calibration.

**Sidenote for anyone that already has ACC, FCW, etc that needs windshield replacement, and is paying out of pocket**
Do not let the windshield installer calibrate the DASM, and have them remove any charges for it. It is absolutely not necessary to recalibrate a Ram DASM that was already calibrated before, and hasn’t had the adjustment screw physically adjusted.

If I buy these parts and do the switch, can I add rain sensing wipers at the same time? What would be needed?

Yes. You just need to add the rain sensor. Part number 68298334AA.

Also, I have verified that a used DASM can be used, and it doesn’t have to be model year specific (although I would avoid using a 2019 DASM since it may or may not have the newest software to address surging).
I’ll update the parts post with that info, and with that being said, I just happen to have a used DASM available.

Ability to use a used DASM might just prompt me to start this project!

Will you be updating the information on the steps required for programming the used DASM

Would this part # work on my 2020 68462656AE

Wow, thank you for the quick response!!! If I could do all this plus the auto high beams in one go, it would be amazing.

What are you asking for the used DASM?

PM sent.

Keep in mind, if you add adaptive cruise, there are no other parts you need to buy to add auto high beams because the DASM handles the auto high beam feature too. You just have to make a few additional AlfaOBD settings changes.

Have you sold the used DASM?
