I have a picture in my head of two RAM engineers who have been assigned to fix the issue in their office and one says to the other "hey I think it is time to throw in the towel and maybe you should call Bob and ask for some help" and the other one saying "I am not calling Ford engineering again it is your turn"

How long do the batteries last in these remotes? I have had a couple times where passive entry hasn't worked. Also a couple times where the the screen tells me "key fob not detected". It works fine at other times.

Seemed to last for several years on my last truck. Sometimes you'll get RF interference that will cause it not to work. Worst case, pull the physical key out of your fob to unlock the door and then use your fob to press the start button.

The door still opened with the button on the fob. I did start the truck by using the fob to press the start button on one occasion.

I just purchased a 2020 Power Wagon, and I'm experiencing similar issues.. My lock and unlock button works flawlessly.. Only until I remote start.. once that happens, my key fob is useless until I walk to the tailgate and then everything works fine.... There is something really magical about the back of my truck that the key fob loves...

Does anyone experience anything like this?

Wow....I'd be happy if mine would work standing at the rear of my truck but with my truck it doesn't matter where you stand. When using the remote start the doors will not unlock with the fob until NUMEROUS presses on the unlock button. I have a new 2021 Power Wagon level 1.

I'm not a software engineer but I thought they just make one copy and load it on all trucks :) . I still think it's more then the software problem.
That’s what I was explaining above. Everyone can have the same software on a particular device, and it is entirely possible for some people to have issues, and some don’t.

For what is worth I called today to check the update as mine was brought in on Dec 22 so figured they might have some information. I gave the the star case number that @Jimmy07 provided but they said that star case did not pertain to my particular vehicle. They said they are still waiting on the RFH module.
It appears that case number was revised a few weeks ago-

Hopefully they will find a solution. Even that I already have the passive entry installed and somehow it did help me get my truck unlocked I still would like to be able to unlock it with my FOB

Hi @Ram JD !

We're glad you were able to set up an appointment with your dealer so soon. Please keep us updated on your dealer's progress and do not hesitate to send our @RamCares a private message, should you need additional support while working with them. I sincerely hope you are able to get your concerns resolved!

Well I went to my local dealer today. Dealer contacted RamCares with my case number (78338813). RamCares representative told dealer my case had been closed because I simply had a bad key fob? WTH? Anyways, dealer confirmed my issue has not been resolved and gave me a paper with the Star Case # S2108000009. The software issue will not be resolved until 2nd quarter of 2021, not first quarter! The interesting thing is that even though we are having issues and some of us have case numbers, I was told we need to keep contacting our local dealer to see if the update is out! Thats right, even though RamCares knows we have a problem and have been to the dealer for repair, they (RamCares) don't contact us, we have to keep in touch with the local dealer! Courtney if you are reading this, no disrespect, but that needs to change! Maybe next winter we can all have our remote start AND our trucks unlock when prompted!

for me it does not give me much confidence in RAM if they can not figure out a simple software issue. This was not an issue on earlier rigs and not an issue on all rigs so how tough can it be to get sorted? some people will be out of warranty by the time it gets fixed.

Don't take my reply wrong , I do appreciate you guys follow this forum but unfortunately I did start a case with you guys and after dealer charged me for buying new FOB (cause they said the FOB I had was causing the issue) and then charged me for rewiring remote starter (cause they said the wiring cause the issue) You guys told me you can't help me because the MOPAR remote starter was installed by dealer AFTER I purchased the truck. Which is considered AFTERMARKET parts. So you said I'm on my own. I lost over $200 to an issue that isn't my fault at all.

I purchased my new 2021 power wagon from a dealer over 200 miles from me in Texas ( I'm in Arkansas). What am I supposed to do? I've had this remote start issue since day one.
I notified them of the problem & they said they have never had this issue with any of their customers.

just go to the nearest RAM dealer. You do not need to use the selling dealership.

You can't do anything till they fix the software

curious what revision and date down at the bottom right on the page. the one Jimmy07 sent was dated 10/28/2020 so you know they have been working on the problem for over 3 full months. I think they need a new batch of software engineers.

UPDATE :I don't know if this is a coincidence or not but on Wednesday Ram customer care had contacted me about my case and the next day my key fob started to work unlocking my truck after only pushing it twice it has done that the past four times I've started my truck so I don't know if they sent some kind of signal or update but it seems to be working now. I have a appointment with my dealer on Tuesday I'll see if it's still working by then
