Revive an old thread, I have a ‘22 RAM 2500 w/ 6.4 and wanted something a LITTLE louder than stock and insist on no drone. I’m an old guy and had enough of loud exhaust but wanted more rumble than stock. I installed the MPI super turbo system on my truck, very happy ! A little louder than stock, in cab noise stayed the same as stock and NO drone, even in ECO mode.

If you could take a vid that would be helpful. Would like to hear a cold start.

Also, if I were to change anything on that kit it would be those clamps. I hate those clamps. I'd probably notch the female side and use band clamps.

Video of cold start and hot idle. MPI sells 2 different kits, they recomend welding the system together, I don't have access to a welder unless I hired a shop to do it. They just started selling clamp on kits which I opted for. I would also liked to have used band clamps but all the hangers and mufflers need this style clamp to work with the system they set up. You can see in the pics the mufflers are clamped together as one unit, very sturdy. When I put the joints together I used Ultra Copper gasket maker and let the truck sit for 36 hours to cure the gasket maker before starting the truck to make sure of no leaks.

Were you able to put your spare back in the factory location with this system? I watched their video online, and they never showed the spare back in place.

Nice work.

@762fmj any update on your system. Still happy with it? I'm trying to decide if I should go with a custom x or h pipe system from a local person or the MPI system for quick and easy.

Still very happy! It does have a small amount of resonance/drone around 1800-2000 rpm or so. It's honestly not bad and I'm either slow enough in town or fast enough on the highway that I don't see much time in that rpm range. Towing roughly 7k lbs it wasn't obnoxious either, but I haven't done any long distance towing. Sometimes I wish I had done a 3" system for a deeper sound, but that's too much pipe for this motor and I'd rather not have the drop in low end torque.

I'd 100% do it again and I still like how the mufflers sound, doesn't sound like every other hemi in my area. If you're not anal retentive like me you could save some money by having a shop do standard bends instead of pie cutting and welding pre bent mandrel pieces and if you're not in a rust prone area you could also save by not going stainless.

I do think if you did the MPI system you'd probably be happy with it, but I really like the fact that I was able to fully spec everything exactly how I wanted from what kind of cross over, material, muffler choice, exit angle, etc. and actually be a true dual system. The cost was similar to a bolt on dual exit catback.
