Mufflers arrived finally. Two Black Widow Race Venoms I got during their Black Friday sale. These are gonna be LOUD. I may have to alter my plans to include resonators so I'm not pissing off my neighbors in the morning.

Swinging by the exhaust shop on my way home to see how much the labor would be to pie cut and weld a universal builders kit with all stainless mandrel bends vs having them crush bend aluminized for me.

Obviously it's a truck not a racecar, but I'd much rather have stainless and their material cost for stainless was $$$.

Will update with more pics/vids when available!

It has cats and stock manifolds so it can't be louder than my car with long tubes and no cats. But they're just standard 40 series FM on there. Nice rumble, but not killer loud.

Welp, either my inner child will like it or my inner old man will complain it's too much. Only one way to find out!

Small update. Shop said he can cut and burn in a builder's kit of mandrel bends np but he needs to get me up on the lift to quote the labor and it's been super packed. Will have to take a couple hours off of work one morning and swing by.

Ordered in the remaining parts. As soon as they arrive I can have them burn it in. Labor quoted is 500 so all in with parts will be comparable to an aftermarket cat back single exhaust or single with dual outlet.Screenshot_20221208-233326.pngScreenshot_20221208-233227.png

The bends look great! I was originally going to get one of the cheap kits on Amazon, but saw conflicting reviews on longevity and fitment. The slip fit is pretty much perfect and the tightest bends don't thin down at all.PXL_20221210_235002218.jpgPXL_20221210_235011340.jpgPXL_20221210_235531838.jpgPXL_20221210_235527730.jpgPXL_20221210_235545802.jpg

About 4 hrs later and it's all done! Sounds great, no drone, but it does make the drop into 4 cyl mode more pronounced. Very quiet inside too. The chirping sound is much better. Still a noisy hemi, but doesn't sound like it's about to throw a belt anymore. Forgot to get a before video.

Update: slight drone at about 1700 rpm, more noticeable in 4 cyl mode. Resonance inside with windows closed is not bad at all.

I might be seeing things wrong, but it looks like one side of your exhaust is bypassing the cat? That may cause some weird fueling issues as the sensors won’t be seeing the expected O2 levels

Edit: Nevermind, I thought the cat was after the factory Y, not before it.

The exhaust work looks great. Very well done. As a guy who tinkers heavily in fabrication, I’ll never understand how exhaust guys can weld 360° around exhaust with it in the truck. Looks great. Too loud for me, but great sound.

They did most of the welding out of the truck. Everything behind the mufflers was tacked up then removed. Everything from the mufflers forward was in the air besides making the h.

Didn't want to try my luck with our friends Magnuson and Moss so keeping the cats.

Anyone know anyone that opted for the MPI Super Turbo catback system?

I'm seriously considering and had my eye on since designed for barely any noticeable interior droning but want that little extra grunt/performance and not void any warranty of the truck.

Had a Magnaflow system in my 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee and that drone sucked. I'm done with all that and want a peaceful ride.

If you’re done with drone, leave it stock.

If that exhaust adds 4 mpg then I am Oprah.

Yep, after decades of modified dual exhaust and drone I was driving my 3500 back from MD Dodge and it hit me...
This is quiet and I like it. No more droning exhaust for me.

I can't help myself since after all these are Hemis :p MPI reports only 1 or 2 decibal increase into the cab with the Super Turbo system. I can cope with that if it's accurate. Doesn't look like anyone has in here doing a search.
