I can't wait to get the trailer out this year...gotta go through setting up the hitch with the new truck, I'm excited to see how much better it is with the 2500 over the 1500. I'm hoping it doesn't make maneuvering in and out of the parking spot at the house any harder.
Wife is ready to get it out too, we're just waiting on the weather up here in northern Illinois. I gotta get going on some maintenance too...need to get the bearings cleaned and packed and replace some lug studs.
towing will be a world better from the 1500 the long bed crew cab has long turning radius...it takes 2 shots to back our fier next to the garage

Yeah, it already was a tight squeeze with where the trees are at and how our driveway is.
Honestly I would've been fine pulling it with the 1500 for quite a while, especially once I went to load range E tires, but it just made sense to make the jump before trade values started to go back down.

We went and scouted two more dispersed sites in Rothrock state forest. Site 6 and 7. Site 6 was occupied and it was too dark for site 7 pic.

But my crappy phone did get this pic if the sun setting.20210407_193815_HDR.jpg

Heading out the door tomorrow for Silt (CO). This will be our "Test Trial" camping for our new 2020 Ram and our new 2021 Rockwood FW. I say "Test Trial" because we need to see how things work, both camper and truck, before we head out in late May for an extended stay in the AZ high country. Camping adjacent to the Colorado River should be fun, as well as checking out "Shooter's Grill" in Rifle (CO) (Down the road a short distance). Weather is going to be testy with rain in the forecast. Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be) with this goofy weather this year! Good chance to see if our new investment leaks or not. LOL!

Have fun.

Congress is on break April 23-30 so maybe you get to say howdy to Congresswoman Boebert. She likes it if you're strapped.

We just got back from 3 nights in the forest. Nearest camp was 3 miles as the crow flies. The social distancing we needed.

Made it back from Silt/Rifle (CO) a little over a week ago. A few photos from our 'maiden voyage' with truck and fifth wheel.

Looking upstream and about 300 yards and to the right is the nesting ground for our country's heritage (no close-up photo due to cheap camera phone). If you look almost TDC in the upper portion of this photo, you'll see a black dot perched on the branch of the dormant tree. This was my best shot. Even when I bothered to take a walk to get closer, the silly bird would fly off to it's nest about 150 yards behind the other trees. Grrrrr!

The Ram pulled the fully loaded fifth wheel over 10,400' mountain passes without even so much as a whimper. Am I impress? You betcha!

Next stop > Arizona!

and if we survive AZ
We are already planning a road trip to Bend (OR), drive the cascades to the coast into Washington and over to Glacier National Park sometime late summer. Should be fun!

Not done yet!
Camping just outside San Antonio, Houston and Galveston in the works for early spring.

Gotta see it "All" before we grow too old and well, you know!
