Thank you, I appreciate it. As brutal knows from our previous forums , I worked on that deal for over a period of 6 months. Started as a 19 build that carried into 20 an i changed my model year to current

Trucked ordered 1/28. Arrived today!! I wasn’t planing on it coming for at least month. Not able to pick it up before then.

Im assuming so. Dealer sending me pics Monday. Made another thread about my situation/adventure coming up. Ordered this truck to tow my boat home from Ohio to Alaska end of April. So I’m in Alaska until I fly down to pickup truck and boat to tow home to Anchorage. Will have about a week to get trailer/boat and truck ready for 5k trip, when I pick it up!

Wow, that's a good size trip. Are you going to be able to break it in before you tow. I think they recommend about 500 miles before you tow an after that you can tow 300 -500 miles but not over 50 mph. I get the whole break in thing but there is no way you can go 50 on the interstate, somebody will wreck in the back of you. At least got to run the limit for the first 1000 anyway befoe you see what that turbo will do.

yes. Luckily the dealership is about 150 miles away from where the boat is. Then I’m running in circles a few days getting everything ready for the journey. Hopefully have around 400-500 mileson the ram before I hookup the boat. Boat/trailer about 7k total. Shouldn’t be to bad.

any other ram rebates on the 2020 HD for March anyone know of?

I dealer is fine holding the truck, my question is as of now I get dealer discount plus usaa $1k if I do paperwork now. If I wait until April 1 will FCA offer any rebates????
the USaa$1k expires 3/20. So that’s a crap shoot if another one comes out after that???

Im the same way, 200 miles from dealership then just driving in circles for a few days before I hook up my fiver. My dealer told me the same thing about rebates that if any more came up when we signed, he would apply

Why not call USAA at the number listed on the incentive offer page and ask if you can receive a new rebate if it expires? the program is running all year. I just got mine and it's good for a month.

The only rebate currently showing is $500 cash from a competing brand and they're basically offering the same 10-11% discounts everyone has generally been getting on new orders. Except for Rich, we all know Rich got 16%. (Cue Rich to reply he got 16%). LOL

Also, I haven't researched too much myself yet, but I believe it's still recommended to make some 30-50 miles runs empty, varying speeds but keep it down and let the gearset cool down some (30 minutes?) before another. I'd plan on the 150 mile run with a few breaks if possible. Then no heavy towing 500-1000. I did a similar break-in with my 04.5 and the turbo and gear sets have been rock solid. Had the diff covers off mine at 30K and 60K and they're perfect. I can't say as much for the trans, but I was running a tune. I never used the cruise except to check it for the first 1000 miles.

As always, don't believe everything you read on the internet and do your research. YMMV greatly.

so you got a usaa rebate thats Good past mines 3/20 expiring?

good advice. Sounds like the engines require zero breakin, but the gears/tranny do appreciate breakin for several hundred miles is what I’m gathering

Yes, I just got a USAA code 3/7/20. Actually, now that I looked again, I don't see any expiration on it. I was thinking of my pre-approved loan that was good for 45 days. The code sheet states the program is running Jan 3, 2020 through Jan 3, 2021. I've not done anything like this before but might fathom a guess they run them continuously.

Cummins engines do not require break in per se. They do get better mileage after ~6K miles as the engine wears into its "final finish." If you're not towing heavy, it will take longer. It's mostly for the gears, maybe the turbo to keep it out of high boost, though not 100% sure on the turbo.

From the OM:

ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS —
DIESEL ENGINE
The Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine does not require a break-in period due to its construction.
Normal operation is allowed, providing the following recommendations are followed:
 Warm up the engine before placing it under load.
 Do not operate the engine at idle for prolonged periods.
 Use the appropriate transmission gear to prevent engine lugging.
 Observe vehicle oil pressure and temperature indicators.
 Check the coolant and oil levels frequently.
 Vary throttle position at highway speeds when carrying or towing significant weight.

NOTE:
Light duty operation such as light trailer towing or no load operation will extend the time before
the engine is at full efficiency. Reduced fuel economy and power may be seen at this time.
For additional vehicle break-in requirements, refer to “Trailer Towing” in “Starting And Operating”
of the Owners Manual.
Because of the construction of the Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine, engine run-in is enhanced
by loaded operating conditions which allow the engine parts to achieve final finish and fit during
the first 6,000 miles (10,000 km).

CAUTION!
 Do not tow a trailer at all during the first 500 miles (805 km) the new vehicle is
driven. The engine, axle or other parts could be damaged.
 Then, during the first 500 miles (805 km)
that a trailer is towed, do not drive over 50 mph (80 km/h) and do not make starts
at full throttle. This helps the engine and other parts of the vehicle wear in at the
heavier loads.

MSRP 87155, 10k off (200 over EP). 11.5% off. + rebates (USAA, conquest). I hope some Texas cash is available for 2020's at delivery

Ok,ok,ok brutal an all. I get it, i know I'm bragging on my deal, but guys I'm super proud of it as i think i should be, i by know means am a better negotiator than anybody else out there, I'm just very fortunate to have allot of time on my hands. Now to get what you guys are talking about on the rebates any incentives an expiration dates. What my salesman told me was the build form that we both signed that had or agreed price on it, he said that everything is into that deal, so it can't possibly get worse for me if something expires. If more deals or better deals come out, they will apply those but if it dont expire before truck is built an we finalize the thing than the dealership has to eat that loss because they are committing to the price you signed on at least not Getting worse for you, can only stay the same or get better for you an for them either stay the same, or lose, or get better.

Rich,
No doubt you made a hell of a deal. It really surprises me that your dealer was willing to give you current rebates/incentives on an ordered truck. I have never seen or heard of a dealer doing that. They are taking a risk for a loss for sure. You did it, flaunt it!

My ordered 2020:
MSRP $77,775.00
Deal $68,956.00 (EP)
Discount = 11.3%

I don't believe there is a better discount available on an ordered truck.
I think It depends if the dealer wants a for sure sal

Brag away man, it lets the rest of us know what we could possibly achieve as long as we are willing to walk away and wait out the dealers.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I don't know if this is true or not but the sales man told me that when profit on the vehicle/ trade difference is so minimal, that he doesn't make incentive, he is only givin $200 bucks. I do find this hard to believe but I guess this would be a case were that could happen. Ironically, after our 6 month ongoing deal , my sale for him was his last, they took him off the sales floor an he said moved him up the ranks but it sounds to me like they took him of the floor so he doesn't cost them money anymore, hahaha. It's a small amount of appreciation but I'm going to get him a dinner out gift card for 6 months of me frustrating them.

Here’s my offer with the 3/20 expiration. Sounds like I can just renew it after?????

what’s conquest cash?

did they work that offer code into your deal. If so, a good reputable dealership will keep your deal even if that means a hit on them. All though we all know there are lots of dealerships out there that don't work this way.
