The SRW have Firestone Transforce, even worse. Heard they are utterly useless in snow and ice.
I put on so few miles and wouldn't get any use out of them before next winter so I plan to replace them first thing and either get a takeoff price from Discount (dealer won't) or just sell them on Craigslist. Might be a tough sell with these 20" so hoping Discount will deal.
Going to put on Falken AT3W, probably 285/65R20, just up one ratio size. I'm already pushing the height in stock form a bit over the old truck and don't want to affect my trailer level too much.
Oh yeah, fire stone is use less. I always use Sam's or Costco, they always have deals an I love Sam's because they fix flats for FREE. I'm sure you know this but when you change tire sizes it does tweek the gear ratio abit,I'll post for all to see
Yes, I have excel worksheets for gear speed/RPM calculations for all model trans and gears and tire size combos, my trailering weight calculations, the truck pricing deals/details, financing, etc. I'm kinda OCD that way.
I just swindled another .5% off my USAA loan offer by pushing a lead thru TrueCar. Going to save me about $800 over the term of the loan. Sales guy said it was OK to do it, I just have to beat off the other dealers pestering me.
If Chrysler wants my note, they're going to have to work hard to beat USAA.
OTOH, USAA insurance quote was much higher than my existing Progressive policy, but it's hard to tell the true total cost because I have 3 policies with Progressive, 3 autos, a boat, and the RV. I might have to call USAA to go through it all. It doesn't help that I now have an at fault for $2700 damage after 43 years accident free. Well, there was that time around 2010 my jetski trailer rubbed a huge SUV in a construction zone on a sharp right hander... I asked her to let me pay out of pocket if it was under $1K but the b** turned it in.

Was considering upping my tire size as well, an then when I put paper to pen an saw how it tweaked 9 the gearatios, I was like there's no point in getting a410 gear than going up in tire sizes because I wouldn't just want a little tire increase.

Yup, that's the problem. I've got a whole list of add ons I've got in my cart to order when the truck gets here. Weather tech floor mats an mud flaps, chrome tow hooks, chrome hood defender, chrome sunroof air dam, car care kit, touch up pen, chrome fuel tank door, an the big one, my 30 k fifth puck hitch witchI got a discount on. It all add up to a few more G.oh yeah then another G on trailer back up camera system an trailer tire psi valves, where does it end, I've got a problem I know.
Rich, you missed one there. I said when I buy another new vehicle, I would demand a touch up kit from the dealer......especially if there are no donuts!LOL!
Running slightly larger tires on my 04.5 took my effective ratio from 4.10 to 3.92 and was great for picking up a little mileage unloaded and didn't harm my towing until I got a bit too much hanging off the back and over the factory tow ratings.
