Hello everyone,

We wanted to come on here to remind you of a recall that was launched previously in an effort to increase the completion rate. Some 2020-2023 Ram 2500s and 2020-2022 Ram 3500s may be affected.
The recall number is ZA3. The transmission on your vehicle may experience a buildup of pressure and heat inside the transmission. This can result in transmission fluid being expelled from the dipstick tube, which may come in contact with ignition sources within the engine compartment.
Your dealer will replace the transmission dipstick and the transmission vent hose.

Please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership if you are having trouble completing this recall. We know there has been a strict part restriction so please reach out to us if you need assistance.

You can learn more on recalls.mopar.com, or feel free to send us a private message. Wea re happy to answer any questions.

Thank you,
Ram Cares

[mod: There has been a subsequent Customer Satisfaction Notification released with updated parts to replace the tube and includes a full length locking dipstick.

See post #12 https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/safety-recall-za3-transmission-dipstick.14714/post-271637

Please refrain from further complaints regarding the short stick. Get your 2nd recall follow up work scheduled. ]

Ram indicated early on this was a temporary remedy.

I don't think this applies to the Aisin transmissions

Any chance they are going to retrofit a real dipstick and tube? Or is the short...AKA useless one, still being installed?

It does not, nor does Ram Cares mention it does.

I’ve seen multiple reports of a useable dipstick being installed recently.

Yes. Long, usable dipsticks are now being installed. Would hope if you got an early short model you could contact @RamCares to arrange swap for long version.

There was a secondary/follow up recall to install the correct parts including a long locking dipstick.

There's a thread on it here somewhere.

Is that an "official recall" recall to install the correct one? Or is this just one of those things that customers have to chase down themselves?

Had this recall done today and the tailgate latch - which amazingly popped open while on my way to the dealer! Plus the lovely grid heater solenoid replace. What does the long dipstick look like?

Start reading here, It's a "Customer Satisfaction Notice" for those that had the initial recall completed and have a short stick (sorry you have a short one).

CSSPZA31AB Indicator - transmission fluid level
CSSPZA32AA Tube-vent
CSSPZA33AA Grommet
