That is awesome. How did you determine what the weak link is.Funny how low ram has rated the payload numbers on these trucks if you look at all the component specs and go off the weakest kne your true payload rating is way more, i have been talking to a local automotive shop that can legally re rate my gvwr to what it can actually handle and it turns out my 19 2500 cclb tradesman would be able to actually take 4040 lbs instead of the meiasly 2040lbs ram rated it at without over stressing any component....
I have an engineer buddy who made the calculations for the non rated parts like the frame and springs looks like the weakest link is the springs, according to aam the aam11.5 is actually rated at 10000lbs but ram rates it at 6040lbs why they under rate **** is beyond meThat is awesome. So lugnuts, axle bearings, all the suspension bars and everything are up to 10k per axle. So you are saying the axles should be rated at 10k each. Interesting. Why would they use such a heavy axle then if they are only rating them at just over half capacity. I believe they rate them at that much due to the tires they use from oem the ones i run are good for 3650 each tire so that makes 7500lbs per axle. But even at the stock rating of the axles from ram they should have the gvwr at 12k not 10kSo lugnuts, axle bearings, all the suspension bars and everything are up to 10k per axle. Here where i am in Ontario all trucks are considered commercial you just register them to the class you need it for as long as its under 14,625lbs (6500 kg) and registered personal you don't have to deal with the commercial side of thingsIt's all about keeping the rating under 9999 to keep from being a "commercial" vehicle. Plain and simple!
In canada all trucks under 6500kg 14625lbs are considered commercial but can be registered personal and no the 2500 is not taxed moreWho is paying for commercial anything with a 3500...and it is over 9999 they are 10000.
And the places like new York do claim the 2500 is commercial on their certain roads...think there is a thread here.
And in Canada I believe they consider the 2500 a luxury vehicle and tax it greater than the 3500. Pretty sure that thread is here too.
But i am familiar with neither new York or Canada...so I will just have to go with Abraham Lincoln's quote. Do not believe anything you read on the internet. Lol
No i am well aware but perhaps you don't realize there are other places in the world where the laws are different, here you can be up to 14625lbs and still be personal (no cvor or logs) that 9999 **** your talking does not apply here... also im sure there like here you only register it to what you need to avoid the commercial side of thingsI guess I did a terrible job explaining what commercial means to you lay-mans out there. If your truck is over 9999 and you haul anything
for hire, you have to have the fancy new electronic log device in the vehicle and DOT #'s on the truck and all kinds of other related goodies.
The low rating on 3/4 tons is for all of those 1000's of companies out there for their sales people to drive around without having to be CDL
drivers and the related B/S. GM has upped the rating on their 3/4 tons to 11300 or so and I'm afraid they are going to lose lots of sales
because of it. Only time will tell!
That is around what you will be for payload the options don't change it much so plan for around 3500lbs any you should be fineLooking for a sanity check on a specific truck configuration that I want to order.
3500 SRW Laramie, Mega Cab, 4x4 short bed 6.7HO Aisin, GVWR 12,300. I found one on a lot in an adjacent state with the same config and ran it though the towing lookup tool and got the following. I believe this is the theoretical max, but does not account for actual weight out the door with options. Does anyone have a '19 or '20 truck with this same configuration that they can post their payload sticker for? Much obliged!
