Ok so I have 3500 limited 2022. 6.7 with Asian transmission. Recently the service DEF system see dealer came up. I believe it’s because I wasn’t able to go fast enough for proper Regen and it was cold. I scanned truck got code P242F. Which is DPF restriction ash accumulation. Now I tried to disconnect my def injector and see if there is clog. Which happened to my cousin 2019. However they put this clip on that makes it harder to take off. Anyone have advice how to by pass this. I live in remote community and just need to get to stealership for them to stretch me out! I’m not in limp mode however not sure how soon til that happens if I try to drive. It has 125,000km as I used for Rv transport.

Ok so I squeezed and pushed down. Didn’t seem to budge. There is a tiny button in the middle. But that doesn’t seem to help. Can I ask why you say that’s not my issue? If so what is the issue?

DEF (or the injector) has Nothing to do with the DPF issue you are having....... You have a clogged DPF.

Ok but if there is no DEF fluid being distributed then won’t that cause filter to clog? So what options do I have? I can try Regen parked? If I high idle truck will that work?

DEF has nothing to do with the DPF it's injected into the SCR to reduce NOx emissions. Two completely different systems. Yes you need to try a manual regen

You'll need a program like alpha OBD and the appropriated adapters and security bypass to do it yourself or take it to a dealer and have them do a manual regen. Not guaranteed that will work but that's the first step

Well that doesn’t sound like something I can do security bypass I wish. Any clue how long if it’s not in limp mode I may have til limp mode happens.

Security bypass module takes about 1 minute to install, it’s very easy.

Is this all something that can be done from my iPhone ?

No. AlfaOBD doesn’t work on an iPhone, it’s only for android or PC.

The security bypass module is a physical connection.

They said when it’s very cold the DEF doesn’t always dissolve and builds up and tricks the system into thinking the DPF is plugged. So they would do this at their place as first order of diagnosis. Not my words but the dealership

0% probability that a plugged DPF is caused by this.

If your mechanic cousin said to thaw the DEF tank to fix a plugged DPF then I wouldn’t trust him to check the air in my tires, let alone work on my rig.

You’ve been told numerous times about the differences in DEF and DPF, can’t really help those that don’t want help.
