Two tensioner pulleys and a serpentine belt later mine is a lot quieter. I think I still hear a weird little noise but I may be paranoid now. It only happened when the temps were colder. 7800 miles on it now.

Update.... So my Ram has been back to the dealership as of today 7 times. The belt and pulley have been replaced 2-3 times each they have had to "clean" the pulleys multiple times. Now the latest development is the belt is blistering and showing excessive wear for a belt that was replace less than a month ago. The guys at the dealership are great and I feel like are trying but at what point should we raise the white flag of surrender... I have been in contact with with Ram Customer Care multiple times and it seems there mindset is let's keep repairing. I find this a little disheartening as I use this vehicle to pull Fifth Wheel camper and my family is with me in the truck. It doesn't seem to matter to them that I have multiple trips planned but at this point I guess I should just cancel them all due to not knowing how long this is going take. I explained this today and the rep stuck to the process of "we are in the repair" phase. I also inquired as to why my truck isn't considered a lemon at this point. The rep told me that they do not initiate the lemon law process that it is the owners responsibility. As I continued talking I began growing frustrated, I mentioned that I might need to take to social media to let everyone know the struggles. The rep told me "I will be sure to record your feedback". Buyers beware!

You have to look up Lemon law per your state. I believe here in Nevada, its 4 times for the same issue occurring in less than 18 months of ownership or less. If its 4 or more times in the shop for the same issue, you can start enacting lemon law. First start with the dealer and if you hit a wall, than go to a lawyer. That is sadly the course of action you will have to take to enact lemon law. But I am not a lawyer, so I suggest research on it before taking my word on it. Hope this helps!

Mine did the same thing. After every "repair" it was quiet but then a couple of days later.... back again. Hopefully, you are GTG now and don't have to keep dealing with this mess.

Maryland's Lemon Law guidance says the I need to send a letter to the manufacturer via certified mail. Has anyone else dealt with this and is there an address known to be the "correct" one? TIA.

Mine is doing the exact same sound and it started at 900 or so miles within the first month of buying the truck brand new. I was reading somewhere that the belt and tensioner are from Dayco and if you replace both with Gates brand parts, the issue would be resolved. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I definitely don't wanna have to continually go through the dealer changing parts as often as some of these are having to do. I had the same issue with my 14' CTD truck and it was repaired under warranty and never had the problem again. I wonder if some of these engine pulley systems are slightly out of alignment from possibly getting damaged during shipment to Mexico to the assembly plant?

Mine is at the dealer for the second time for this same issue. The videos above are exactly the same sound. The previous time they "cleaned dirt and gravel off the belt" but the noise returned the next day. They will keep it overnight to do a cold start tomorrow.

Please keep us updated on your dealer's findings, DerKomisar. We are more than happy to connect you with a specialist if you are in need of any additional support while working with your dealer.

Yep. I got my truck back from the 7th repair and they found the blistering and contributed that to “something not tracking right”. This time they changed main crank pulley, used harmonic balancer (not sure if this is correct) not sure what that is. They drove it for multiple days and reported it was fixed. I then started driving and just 3 days ago on 2 occasions I noticed the hot rubber smell again. I also began hearing the noise again. It is intermittent. The side of the belt is fraying again. The belt has been replaced 4 times. Multiple pulleys, etc. It’s back at the dealership for the 8th time. Now they are thinking the power steering pulley is seated in or out too far. Who knows...
