Also remember you can blame on FCA but it is Cummins! I'm a big fan of Cummins and I put there equipment in generators in a lot of places and applications. I'm gonna run Diesel Kleen and when I get my aux tank on I'm gonna keep the main tank full all the time. How comical, I guess every forum has "the premadona"...
I never said entitled anywhere, the pre Madonna did.
what I should have said was " what a pain it would be to unload my wheelchair and catch a ride should the CP4 fail on me."
yes hoping the warranty would cover it.
when I bought this truck the Sales GM was a Vietnam Vet and we hit it off well- he bent over backwards to give me a great deal, best RAM Cummins deal I've ever gotten.
the disappointment comes now knowing RAM used a notoriously known bad component that will fail on a "commercial truck" like the chassis cabs or even an HO engine.
thanks guys!
Someone said the idea is as the tank gets lower the sloshing around creates aeration which can cause the issue. My solution is to get my aux tank installed and keep the main tank full and run diesel keen.I never thought about aeration, I was always told the fuel keeps the tank pump form over heating, so don't let it go below 1/8 of a tank. I normally fill when it gets down to a quarter tank.
That’s is very true. STAR is working to get a star online tsb out before end of year so Cummins can write it off as bad credit and start the new year fresh.

It's now Feb and we haven't heard any more about this.
I don't expect to hear anything yet from FCA or RamCares, but what are your sources saying?
At 60 i figured the same as this was to be my last HD RAM diesel. If they screw up the "fix" on this, I may step up my plans to get rid of the truck and 5th wheel sooner then planned. My thoughts exactly. I may go for a while and be careful, but if we do not get a recall I will likely do the S&S Cp3 also. ANd will be sure to spread my thoughts on what FCA does in the end. Praises or condemnation of the brand depending on how they handle it. At 64 years old I planned for this to be my last truck purchase.
I'm in a similar situation to you in that I know the stock replacement isn't going to suit the needs of the mods I've got planned, but I also don't know that I want to dump everything at once. I like the idea of a CP3 from FCA that I can run stock, then tuned, and then swap and use it for a core charge on a larger unit. Otherwise I've got to jump straight to the larger unit now which will require the tune and possibly some other mods while I'm at it.All that I keep hearing is that something is in the process and that’s all I can disclose. Look at what other manufacturers went through when this happen they still don’t admit to the faulty pump or bad fuel. I’m going to keep listening and when something comes out I’ll post it. I am currently swapping my 20’s cp4 out to a s&s ss pump. Since I’m going to build it up a little and it will flow fuel past what the stock and no tune required one will.
You sound like 60 is old ? I turn 60 this coming summer. 1 more Ram after this one. I put way to many miles on them not to.At 60 i figured the same as this was to be my last HD RAM diesel. Good to know, might not be as bad as I expect then. I've heard that you can't do larger injectors on an emissions truck, I assume that since you're still running a VGT you're emissions on or you just like the quicker response? Feel free to PM if you don't want to publicly discuss. The ss pump can go from stock to 800+ according to s&s. I already did 30%overs now waiting on a new vgt drop in and a s488 over stock compound kit. The s&s ones don’t have a core.
60 is the new 40.You sound like 60 is old ? I turn 60 this coming summer. 1 more Ram after this one. I put way to many miles on them not to.

No ours just quit running on interstate 65 had a little hiccup and than diedA lot of posts to info to weed through regarding CP4 failures across a few forums. I have a 2019 2500 Mega Cab 6.7. with about 6k miles on it. Any warning signs I can be on the look out for prior to CP4 failure or just business as usual and then you are calling for a tow?
