I did the full dual exhaust and it sounds great, however it did not fully mitigate the chirping. It's a little better I think due to acoustics from not having the factory y pipe, but I don't think that's where the sound originates. My theory is that it's the driver head pipe area as there are a lot of clamps there and flex pipe vs welded in sections.

Thanks for the prompt response. Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by head pipe? Do you mean where the downpipe attached to the exhaust manifold?

Thinking back I think you're right and it's the down pipe.

I honestly can't believe the engineers at FCA/Stellantis have not fixed this problem in the NINE YEARS it has been happening. My 2014 made this noise. They have ignored it completely. I seriously considered buy a Power Wagon a few years ago but I hated that noise so much on my 2014 I didn't want to buy another Ram with the 6.4. So that was that.

Have it on my 3-week-old 23 Hemi 6.4, it's a bit annoying but I've started to grow accustomed to it.

I have mentioned to my wife of getting a different exhaust as I do wish there was a bit more rumble, but that'll be later after some other accessories.

Yep, just bought a 2020 Power Wagon and it has it. I hate the noise, but feel a little better it about after reading this thread. Of course that doesn't absolve the manufacturer from fixing it. They obviously know about it (the info from this thread alone reflects this). Too bad they care more about $$'s than customer satisfaction!

I honestly enjoy my truck much more now that it has exhaust on it. It does help hide the chirpy sound and on top of that I paid for a big V8, I want to hear my big V8. We went on a 11 hr trip last weekend and it wasn't too noisy or droning. That being said pulling a heavy load I could see it getting old depending on the speed.

I just replaced the stock muffler with the Magnaflow D-Fit and it made a huge difference. It just sounds like crap during the first few minutes of warm up. I bet yours sounds awesome with an almost complete exhaust!

So this didn't get rid of the sound completely?

I have a brand new left over 2022 2500 Big Horn. With 25 miles the exhaust is definitely making noise from the catalytic converter to the pipe toward the manifold. It goes away when it warms up. Does Ram have a fix for this.? A $70,000. truck shouldn't make this noise. Also the truck weeps dust out of every crevice. When I got home with it from day one I washed out the fenders, under the bed and body. So much fine dirt rinsed out it was concerning. After a trip back to the dealer, where they pressure washed it and washing it myself many times it still weeps fine dust. Makes my truck look dirty all the time. We believe sitting in a dust bowl in Mexico, for a year or longer, is the problem. At first I thought it was a flood victim. Also my dash came with to deep scratches on top in plain sight! I'm worried if the dealer replaces the dash I'll have problems with it! Any thoughts?

@roadkingjim you need to keep in mind the engine is exactly the same on your truck vs a total base model 2500 regular cab 2WD truck that costs over $30k less. Many people think because they paid for a loaded up model, their engine should somehow be quieter or more powerful or whatever.

I can promise you RAM will do absolutely nothing about the noises the 6.4L Hemi makes. Yes, they chirp when they are cold started and sometimes they rattle or tick. That's 100% characteristic of these engines. A first-time buyer of one of these might be annoyed or alarmed. However, these are just normal sounds and won't harm the engine. For the most part, the 6.4L Hemi sounds very good.

As for the dash scratches, have the dealer replace it if they are willing. Its a major job for sure, but I'd let them do it. You won't have a junior tech doing this job, and the senior guys usually do a good job.

The dust will go away in time. If you bought a 2022 leftover, chances are the dust came from sitting at the dealership itself, especially if the truck was parked for display near a main road.

I had a similar issue with my dash, it was replaced as a "goodwill" replacement instead of warranty. The exhaust chirp isn't going away unless you can isolate and replace the area that it comes from. Early theories were that the sound was from the factory y pipe. That's been disproven at least on my truck since I have a full exhaust and it still does it. I suspect one of the joints near the driver side cat.

Thanks for your reply. I'm an ASE certified tech and shop owner with over 50 years experience turning wrenches and using lab scopes. I understand the 6.4 Hemi is the same engine used in all 2500 Rams. My point is it shouldn't make this noise and should be addressed. The dealer believes it was parked in a dust bowl in Mexico, not my first thought. Eventually the dust issue should go away but if you saw it, you might have a different opinion on it. As far as the scratch, I hope your right!

Many engines from a variety of manufacturers make weird noises from time to time. Sure, I'd prefer to not have that chirpy / squealing sound from my Hemi at a cold start, but its just the way it is and I know Chrysler will never do anything about it, and every other Hemi 6.4L is doing it too, so it is what it is. Of course the dealer wants to blame the manufacturer and not themselves for the dust, but I will tell you this: years ago, like you I bought a leftover brand new truck. It was a 2012 Ford F-250 crew cab with the gas 6.2L V8, nice truck. But it had dust everywhere on the outside. The carpeted inner fender liners were full. Open the hood and the engine was covered with fine silt and dust. Dust and silt all over the chassis and axles, and in the pickup box. I complained and the dealer powerwashed the engine and bed. It was better but for several months the dust would run out of those carpeted inner fenders and the lower chassis. I washed my truck all the time by hand and always tried to spray underneath it. The engine had dirt on it caught in certain areas that took forever to get out. But eventually it did stop weeping the dust. When you've got a new rig, I know how much you want to keep it nice. My point is that the dirt and silt all came form the dealer. My truck was on the lot a long time - over a year. The dealer had road frontage on a busy main road, and a guy I knew that worked in service claimed this was a problem for all the vehicles that stayed parked out front for a longer period of time. I have no idea if that's what happened in your case or not, but you should always suspect the dealer is lying to you in order to avoid any future responsibility.

Good luck with your truck, I'm sure its a real nice rig. Mine is a Tradesman! But I do have one gas and one diesel.

Thanks much brother, please don't miss interpret my response. I do apricate your input.
