My 2020 with 5500 miles is in the shop for the same chirping noise at the moment. I have a long trip planned as we purchased this truck for the sole purpose of hauling our toys. Truck was in the shop for 4 days before they could replicate the sound. Fortunately I told the service runner to verify the noise when I pulled up. Her exact words to the service writer was “it wasn’t as loud as the other one but it was loud.” Got a text Saturday that it would hopefully be fixed today. Received a call today that the repairs are right in line with the pulley and belts referenced throughout this thread with no eta. This is infuriating, the truck is 7 months old, garaged 90% of the time and now parts are on back order. Service writer was very pleasant and stated he would be contacting his regional rep but this doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzy.

Howdy all,
Not what some of you may be liking to hear but I had to go through this for almost 9 months of new pulleys, belts (multiple manufacturers) bearings, align this and that and then the rest of the front end of the engine. Ultimately I ended up having my truck bought back by FCA. Please know that it is a process is frustrating, time consuming and may make you never want to step foot in another FCA product like it did me. Most of the people are very nice (if) you can get someone to call you back. My hope is that FCA will be able to come up with a fix for this issue because historically Rams have been a true work truck that’s able to do anything and nowadays look pretty nice too. Unfortunately it’s too late for me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

Y’all, still no squeak for me after upgrading belt to a Gates HD belt. I’m assuming it’s just a crap factory belt. Have the shops replace the belt with a Gates HD green belt and watch the noise disappear!

Ya all these people wasting time at dealer. Just put better stuff on and be done with it. Glad your squeak is gone too!

Hey guys. First post here for a first time diesel owner. I had this issue and didn’t want to mess with the dealership run around. So I put on a Gates tensioner and green back belt. It took away the chirping for three weeks now. Then today I fired up and it was back. Quieter, but back.

Wondering what the dealer will say about the new belt/tensioner or if I should put the old one back on before taking it in.

Hmm. Have had mine on for pry a month or two now and nothing. It’s been cold and snowing where I’m at too. Like single digit cold.

Ya, way better construction. The Dayco tensioner seemed to have half the tension strength, and the cheap plasticy pulley was covered in belt dust. I thought for sure the Gates parts would be the end of it.

It wasn’t even cold today. Maybe 35 degrees.

Purchased a 2020 3500 HO 10/24/2020 and within a couple thousand miles the squeak started on mine. Had to go to the dealer (11/30/2010) for some accessories and they replaced the belt. Fine for about a month and just started again this week, mines only noticeable at an idle, I think it has 3100 miles on the odometer now. Not good, but glad I found this thread.

what is the Gates part number for the tensioner? And does anyone have part number for the belt with double alternator?

I joined the cricket club today at 4390 miles on my HO.

Hear the "squeak/squeal," sounds more like a cricket to me.

Rear pass seat belt is also FUBAR and won't retract. Seems like it spools out too far now.

Update: I got my truck back after 20 days in the shop. Drove it from AZ to CA and all seems good. Amazing customer service from Michelle at Chrysler she really helped speed up the process! The dealership also was awesome! I love Ram Cummins!

Good luck. Had my belt changed twice. Crank pulley and belt changed. New tensioner and fan clutch bracket. Still sitting in the shop.
