Good luck. Had my belt changed twice. Crank pulley and belt changed. New tensioner and fan clutch bracket. Still sitting in the shop.

I really think unless you use the gates parts the problem is gonna come back for most people. I did belt and tensioner awhile back and it’s still good. I understand people not wanting to do that to a brand new truck too. My dealer told me if it happened it again to bring it in and they would still work on it under warranty but I think it’s fixed.

Maybe, my truck never made it out of the shop with the new tensioner. Noise was still there after they changed it.

Yea but the issue is that they keep putting the flawed factory parts on multiple times, the weak tensioner and bad belt together, it’s doing no good for the shop to keep putting mopar parts on there since that’s the issue. Until they burn through their inventorying gonna keep coming back. Anyone that had done the full gates swap seems to be good to go from what I’ve read

I'm curious on why most trucks, I assume per this thread don't have this issue using stock factory parts.

That's why I think there's an underlying issue. If brand new tensioners aren't adequate then this issue should be more widespread.

I did the full Gates swap and the noise came back, although quieter, within a few hundred miles.

I put the factory bet/tensioner back on so I can take it to the dealer, but after 200 miles it’s only making an occasional chirp. Waiting to see what happens with some more time/miles.

Well who knows at this point, works for some and not for others. I’ve got a couple thousand miles on my swap and still good. Maybe it’ll come back sometime but we will see

So my truck was in for the Bed Step Recall and I mentioned the sound to the Service Manager he listened and verified the “Birds Chirping‘s” I told him about this thread and that really there is NO factory fix yet. He grabbed some silicone grease of some sort and put a small amount on the inner ribs of the factory belt, guess what sound immediately went away. I told him leave it alone till the birds come back or RAM has A permanent fix. I’m personally not going to change out factory parts for aftermarket when the truck is under warranty That’s letting Ram off the hook IMO. I got nothing but time to wait this one out. CP4 ???

Got my truck back yesterday after nearly 3 weeks in the shop. Replaced belt, idler pulley, tensioner, and fan bearing. They also ordered a special laser to check pulley alignment.

They suspect that the crank pulley (already been replaced) is "not deep enough to seat the belt".

Today 350 miles later I hear the noise coming back

Purchased a 2020 3500 HO 10/24/2020 and within a couple thousand miles the squeak started on mine. Had to go to the dealer (11/30/2010) for some accessories and they replaced the belt. Fine for about a month and just started again this week, mines only noticeable at an idle, I think it has 3100 miles on the odometer now. Not good, but glad I found this thread.
I'm back at the dealer as of Monday. Recap - First dealer put a belt on, said the factory one was bad. Second dealer did the tensioner, now I'm back at the second dealer 2 weeks later, and what are they doing? Yep, another belt. I hope they ordered more than one... Yes each time the noise has gone away for a bit, but does come back. This is getting exciting! :p

2019 Ram 2500 Cummins with 8000 miles. Mine starting making the same chirping noise around 2,500 miles. I finally took it to the dealer at 7,500 miles to take care of a few recalls and had them check on the noise as well. I was told that they could not duplicate the noise even though it had been making the sound after every single start over the previous several months. After I opened the hood I could see evidence that they had sprayed the belt with belt dressing. Guess what? The noise returned after about 100 miles. After reading on this forum that very few of the dealerships have been able to resolve this issue with our trucks, I decided to go the Gates route. I had a Gates heavy duty belt and Gates tensioner installed which has eliminated the noise for now. After 400 miles the noise is still gone but I’ll report back after a few thousand more miles.

I have just over 6k miles on my 2020 2500 and have had this noise since about 2k miles. It's extremely frustrating and I'm not willing to take it in until there's a verifiable fix.

Does anyone else's HO Cummins squeak/Chirp at startup? This is only the first startup of the day after its sat all night. Didn't do it when it was brand new 3 months ago and started about a month ago.. I love spending 82k on something just to have it sound like i have a bird living in the engine... I will obviously take it to the dealer but wondering if anyone else has/had this and what the dealer did to fix it... Just chirps or squeaks for like 5 minutes then goes away.

And don't say deal with it, it obviously wasn't there when brand new and now has developed so it, shouldn't be a normal sound. Thanks!
I have a 2018 RAM 3500 and the same problem. The belt chirp stops when the engine gets up to full operating temp. I was going to take it in next week, but when I notices it would stop when warmed up, I cancelled the appointment. I wonder if I should have them change out the belt and tensioner while it's still under warranty, or just accept it as a characteristic of the truck, since trying to eliminate it sounds futile...???

My 2020 2500 with 6000 miles has the chirping. Started about 4000 miles and the belt looks like it is showing some wear. I’ve had the whining sound in the same area that changes with RPM. Will see what dealer says at the 7500 mile service, but will probably pick up the gates belt and perhaps keep the old as an emergency spare.

I can hear the cp4. Sounds like I have some playing cards in my spokes. That doesn’t bother me as long as that asymmetrical piece of junk don’t give up on me.

I love the unique cummins sounds, but the chirping and whining noises are just annoying in a brand new truck. I can’t enjoy the valves rattling with that nonsense.
