Muddy~Rusty new truck 2025 2500

Well, today I stopped by a local Ram dealer. I found 10 trucks on the lot with the same dirt and rust issue found on my new ‘25 RAm. While I was there, a salesman came out and I told him immediately that I wasn’t a buyer. I told him I was there to take pics of trucks with this mysterious rust causing mud. The salesman said “You wouldn’t believe what the trucks come in here looking like.” He 100% confirmed the mud is from the Saltillo, Mexico plant. He also confirmed the trucks delivered during the rainy season are the worst. I want to clarify, there were many very clean trucks on this lot with no signs of this issue, making the ones that have it hard to miss. Pics are of warlock and tradesmen Cummins equipped.
Well if a dealer salesman said it then it must be true

No one has stepped up to the plate yet, the dealer or Ram. Again, I don’t blame the dealers. It’s not their fault. These trucks are showing up looking like they came in last place in the Baja 1000. I can’t even imagine what it would take to clean up the undercarriage of one of these trucks. I’ve hit mine twice with the pressure sprayer and I still can’t get the truck clean. Of course this does nothing for the rust. I ordered rust preventative products to apply to the affected areas.

Have you called Mark Ram your self about this, too me its odd that you received a truck that looks to not has its PID work done, also being they claim to be the biggest dealer in the whole USA, too let a truck out the door looking like yours is not the norm for them based on the man y happy buyer post, thus I would be surprised to hear of them giving you the cold shoulder, a truck looking poor like your your can impact there business so I would think they would find a way to make it right....
Looks like Mark ram still has one that looks very similar to the one in my driveway. Mine did show up cleaner than this one in these pictures.
This truck will never look new no matter how much work is put into cleaning it up. I’m sure it has the same rust issues mine has.

Like I would trust anything a salesman says.

Hopefully they take good care of you. We all would like to hear a positive outcome for you and your truck

2 things come to my mind. First, it looks like someone at the first dealer had some fun with the truck before you got it. That thing has mud in areas that just shouldn't be dirty from moving it for delivery. How many miles were on it when you received it? Mine had 27 miles on it and delivered in Michigan, so it's definitely been on a few trucks/trains, etc.

The other thing that looks odd to me is the diff cover. That looks like salt spray. I wonder, has this truck been near the ocean or stored near a body of salt water?

My ‘25 was built 5/25. Just bought it a couple of weeks ago from a dealer in Ga. I have this crap all under my truck too. I’ve pressure washed with a wand, and an attachment that shots the water upward. I spent several hours under it today with a rag and a bucket of water. This stuff does not come off easily. Mine is rusty as well. Been dealing with some other paint issues as well with the dealer. Really bummed out on this one. I should have walked on the deal. I wish I had taken more pictures before I started cleaning.

I did ask the dealer if there was a chance that someone took it out for a spin behind the dealership or something of that nature. They said they never allow anyone to drive off the lot without a salesman in the truck. Definitely the first thing that came to my mind also.

AT this point, I am 100% certain of my conclusion. I can get online or go to any dealership and find the same colored mud as I have posted in the pics of Above.

I don’t want anyone to think that they can’t go to a Ram dealer and buy a very clean truck. You most certainly can. The dealer I went to yesterday had over 100 trucks with no signs of the mud but I did find 10 of them covered in it. I guess I could drive to Mexico and get a solid 1000% certain answer for everyone but that won’t do me any good at this point. You make your own judgment on what is going on.
I can assure you any new vehicle I buy in the future I will crawl under and all around it before purchase.

The screenshots I took are from dealerships all over the country Why would the trucks have the same color mud? This is why I have come to my conclusion. First picture the plant in Mexico new trucks sitting on dirt the same color as the culprit colored dirt.

I wouldn’t have even posted anything about it if it cleaned off and everything wasn’t rusty. I have the right as a new truck owner to receive a brand new truck in mint condition, not stained and rusted from the corrosive soil from the rail yard lot in Saltillo, MX.

I feel for you nothing worse than buying a new truck and feeling like your buddy that bought a Ford out did you.

I have rust going down all of the welds on the frame just like in your picture. I picked up some of this POR15 online today. Hopefully it works. I’m going to coat all of the welds that are rusting throughout the frame.

Since I’m not sleeping over this, I googled “rusty undercarriage new truck”. Mostly F150s came up, but there were some rough looking ones. Is it possible that’s just the dirt on your front diff cover? Have you tried scrubbing it?

I’m not happy with the rust, but my research has made me feel a little better about it.

If you read the entire thread, I purchased the truck from a dealer 350 miles away. Dealer drove, it to me first impressions The truck looked fine. It’s not till later when I looked under the truck and realized the issue. I’ve spoken with them. They are not going to do anything. They recommended taking it to a local dealer which I did. They reached out to regional representative who said it it’s just surface rust nothing covered under warranty. I didn’t personally get to talk to this representative.

Basically, I recommend anyone buying a ram go over it many times under around and inside under the hood. Make sure everything is 100% to your liking. Once you drive off the lot is extremely difficult to get anything done.

Read the entire thread, and it doesn’t change my stance that 350 miles is a short afternoon drive to be shod of something you’re unhappy with.

Inform the dealer that the truck is coming back, and that if they don’t agree with it, that your lawyer will be contacting them.

If that ain’t gonna work for you, then pay the money for a professional to sand and undercoat the vehicle. Lots of solutions here.
