Purchased a 2025 2500 Ram the day before Thanksgiving. It was delivered first week in December from a dealer 350 miles away. The truck currently has 565 miles on it. There is rust everywhere under this truck. I did not think this would be possible for such a new truck, especially since I live in Texas. Anyone else experience this?

That’s a lot more than what I would consider acceptable.

I think one of my driveshaft yokes had a little rust early on and a little on the cast axle housing but nothing like that.

That rust pattern on the front diff looks odd like they sprayed rust prevent or paint and the tie rod was in the way.

I just touch my axles up with paint when needed but you could see what the dealer says

That’s a lot of rust. Curious to see what a/the dealer would say. If on the lot I’m passing on that one.

Kicking myself for not taking photos before I went to the car wash and spent seven dollars pressure spraying the dirt off. Dealer said some trucks come in pretty dirty from the Mexico plant. Attached are some pictures of the plant in Mexico that I took thanks to Google. If you look at the dirt, this is the exact same junk that I pressure washed off my new truck. Whatever’s in the dirt it caused everything to rust.

I would have it detailed underside and undercoated and move on for 800 bucks
Maybe the dealer will go half on undercoating

Live in South Texas. I purchased the truck from Mark Ram of Lake Charles. Very happy with the dealership they even delivered the truck to me. Took the truck to a local dealer today and they reached out to their regional contact for things of this nature and the reply was the truck has a rust warranty, but not a surface rust warranty. Basically the runaround. I learned the hard way don’t buy a Ram built at the Mexico plant during their rainy season. I paid cash for the truck. I was very excited and saved up for a long time. I’m very disappointed that they are allowing trucks like this to pass through inspection. Truck build date 6/25 also some paint issues but nothing that I can’t live with.

I also own a ‘21 Ram (December build date) that I have been very happy with. I took some shots of the underside of this truck which has 110,000 miles on it now. Absolutely no rust compared to my brand new ‘25 model with only 600 miles on it. The ‘25 model was built at the Saltillo, Mexico plant in June (rainy season).

Attached pics of the exact issue I am experiencing with my new truck. Photos are from the ram website and Google Earth.
The picture of the storage lot depicts the same color rust causing corrosive soil that I’ve been dealing with. Note the light colored soil on the exterior and interior of this example. I would like everyone to know when I first noticed this I shrugged it off as no big deal. I’ll just pressure wash it off. Boy was I wrong after cleaning the truck everywhere this soil touched was starting to corrode even affecting the exterior glass which I cleaned many times with glass cleaning products.
So am I just unlucky? Or is this an issue that has a solution that ram has not addressed yet? In the storage lot photo you can see that not all areas are unpaved so I’m sure the majority of trucks show up looking new. But until the issue is addressed there is a chance that others could possibly get a rainy season ram like I did…. keep your eyes peeled They are not all equal.

They’re all built in the same place and shipped the same way. I don’t think it’s some magical corrosive dirt in Mexico or all the trucks would look like that.

I think it’s just an issue with the way your truck was /wasn’t sprayed underneath especially with that tie rod spray tan line on the diff cover

I would focus on getting it fixed rather than how it happened. Either take it to the dealer or fix it yourself.

My 19 has a little surface rust on the steering box and shaft and not much else to speak of

I respectfully disagree. I have a 21 that looks just like your truck. They are capable of delivering new trucks that look like they should. The pictures above show exactly what my new truck look like from a different dealership and I’ve seen many other examples. I’m not saying this is common. And that tan line you speak of is only where I missed some of the dirt because the pressure washer job I did. The rust that is on that differential is what was under the mud.

And yes, you are correct. I will have to move on which I have already started doing. I’ve spent over $200 on wax window cleaner and rust prevention products. As you can imagine, I am most definitely disappointed. I think ram could do a better job delivering Clean new trucks to their dealers. There is no excuse for what I ended up with. I still believe in the product itself. This is corporate oversight in my opinion.
If I was a dealer, I would be upset that these trucks are coming out of Mexico looking like they do during the rainy season. I don’t put any blame on my dealer one bit. This is what shows up at their doorstep. There is an answer to this problem 40% of the vehicles from what I can see from Google Earth are sitting in the mud during rainy season. It’s an issue that can be solved with money, but that is being overlooked and now the issue is being sold to customers that’s how I see it. if someone sees it differently I’ll be more than happy to hear What they think is going on here?

The black truck pictured below is at a dealership right now for sale I’m willing to bet that it was made during the rainy season in Mexico those spots you see on the glass somehow don’t come off even with polish. I was able to buff out the spots in the paint job on my truck, but still left with the underside issues.

Its ok to disagree but I think its silly to warn people about the rainy season

My truck was made in the same plant during the peak of what you call “rainy season” in September

I don't think any of this is from the storage yards, it looks like rail dust from the train ride to the states and then to its final destination. I feel all the trucks encounter this until it gets cleaned and detailed from the dealer. On all my factory ordered trucks they have all looked like yours until dealer cleans and details them. My 2025 3500 looked like this when it arrived and scared the B Jesus out of me but when I went to pick it up it looked fantastic.

Long train ride to Ontario Canada , had dirt specs all over the underside , dealer PDA consisted of washing the top side.
Tires had 80+ lbs , Block Heater was not connected.
It did have 26 km\16 mi on it so who knows where it was driven.

Well, today I stopped by a local Ram dealer. I found 10 trucks on the lot with the same dirt and rust issue found on my new ‘25 RAm. While I was there, a salesman came out and I told him immediately that I wasn’t a buyer. I told him I was there to take pics of trucks with this mysterious rust causing mud. The salesman said “You wouldn’t believe what the trucks come in here looking like.” He 100% confirmed the mud is from the Saltillo, Mexico plant. He also confirmed the trucks delivered during the rainy season are the worst. I want to clarify, there were many very clean trucks on this lot with no signs of this issue, making the ones that have it hard to miss. Pics are of warlock and tradesmen Cummins equipped.

Not really sure why other than some sit on pavement and other sit in the dirt. Or maybe it’s the kid that works in the Transport department that absolutely loves his job and is having more fun with our trucks than we can imagine.

Have you called Mark Ram your self about this, too me its odd that you received a truck that looks to not has its PID work done, also being they claim to be the biggest dealer in the whole USA, too let a truck out the door looking like yours is not the norm for them based on the man y happy buyer post, thus I would be surprised to hear of them giving you the cold shoulder, a truck looking poor like your your can impact there business so I would think they would find a way to make it right....
