After reading this, I thought I'd chime in about my past and currently ongoing issues. Bought my 2025 3500 DRW Limited in mid-june. Since day two I've had nothing but problems. Here's my list,
- Flashing odometer
- Cruise control inoperable at times but consitantly now
- Trailer brake controller doesn't operate the trailer brakes. Trailer lights work but no brakes. this issue just happened in the last week.
- ABS lights
- Truck stuck in park, wouldn't come out of gear. Had to disconnect batteries and let it sit to get it to shift out of park.
- random check engine lights
- Traction control lights
- Service electronic stability control
- "service transmission continue in D. do not shift or turn engine off until you reach desired location you may not be able to shift again until serviced" message appeared.
- 4wd inoperable lights
- "blind spot alert unavailable service required" message
- Dash indicator stating truck is not in park(when the truck is in park) but not showing in any gear. Wouldn't allow the truck to shut off, had to pull main wiring harness to get engine to shut down.
All of these issues have happened multiple to dozens of times in 4k miles and three months of owning it but probably the most frustrating issue has been, After shutting off the truck and exiting, light on dash saying "push to start" stays illuminated and unless I disconnect the batteries, the truck will be dead in 6 hours. This happens intermittently but probably 3-4 times a week and has been happening since the end of June. It's gotten so bad that I carry a 10mm wrench and have to disconnect and reconnect the batteries every time I go somewhere. I let it sit overnight last week without disconnecting the batteries and it took me an hour and a half to get started with another truck jumping it, a jumper pack and an 80 amp charger hooked to it.
My dealer claims it's a rear wheel speed sensor that is causing all of these issues and they've had one on order for two months and still have no ship date. I finally got fed up as my service writer won't return my calls and went in to talk to them yesterday. Their response was, there's nothing we can do, and we won't get you a comparable loaner (I pull 20-30k pounds regularly) here's the number for ram cares, ask them to buy it back.....
What a joke! I don't want ram to buy back the truck, I want my dealer to care enough to make an effort to fix the issues and take care of the customer who spent alot of money at their dealership. I want ram to care enough about their customers to get the parts even if it means stop building trucks and using the inventory they have on new trucks to take care of the customers who are left dealing with these problems. I have bought nothing but GM vehicles for the last ten years and was excited about the new 8 speed to make a switch. I love truck when it's working. Pulls better than my 22 3500 drw denali but when my denali had issues, GM was always quick to resovle them and would put me in a comparable loaner until it was fixed.
Every potential buyer should read these warnings and understand, these trucks have major problems and ram does not care about fixing the problems or doing right by the customer. I know people are going to say "shouldn't have bought the first year vehicle" but I can say for certanity the second year 2026 won't be any better and if this is what I can expect, I'll never buy another Ram or Stellantis product again.
