AlfaOBD

The more expensive OBDII readers are not needed.
…if you don’t want to be able to connect to any module on the IHS bus, correct, they are not needed. Those modules would include:
Radio, display screen, CVPM, door modules, hvac, amp, power side steps, integrated center stack, memory seats, heated seats, and BSM.

The main thing people won’t be able to do, is if they add surround view, they won’t be able to connect to the CVPM to calibrate the cameras.

Is the Vlinker just as reliable as the MX+? That’s not a bad price if so

I haven't used one but @Jimmy07 has been beating on one a lot and said it works great.

I also don't recommend spending $20 or $40 on a cheap (BAFX and others) reader when the vLinker MC is $44. https://www.amazon.com/vgate-vLinker-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B08694LQR1
The MC+ is $60 https://www.amazon.com/vgate-vLinker-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Android/dp/B088LW211V

Buy once, cry once. I have a $20 BAFX and it's slow AF for data logging, etc. and I've had to resolder the PCB once already.

My daughter has a Chromebook that has WiFi and Bluetooth. I see AlfaOBD on Google Play. Would this device work ok?

@Jimmy07 do you know if there is a way to disable the chime for when the doors open and key on (not seatbelt chime).

When cleaning out the trucks it’s nonstop dinging lol.

If the door sensor connector can be located and removed, then shorting the connector may do the trick. The connector should trace back to the BCM, I think. The question is if the BCM connection is GPIO (digital 1 or 0) or analog to an A2D.

I guess I shouldn’t have given an absolute no. You can use AlfaOBD to disable the door ajar signals, but obviously you would lose function of other features besides just the door chime- VTA, lighting when the door is open, power side steps (even AMPS), etc.

Ahh I’d rather have all the other functions maybe some day maybe there will be an option

You cannot code a FOBIK on the newer trucks with AlfaOBD. It requires an active connection to WiTech due to rolling codes. PIN does nothing for you, it's not even needed to "reset RF Hub" on the new trucks because you don't need to reset the RF hub to make changes. If a PIN was needed, you could also use the PIN puller app to get it yourself.

I don't believe there's anything to code for tailgate release. Only if you were adding remote start.

Oh ok i guess that's why i couldn't find the info i was after. Ok so basically alfa isn't needed, just have to get the dealer to program my new fobik to my truck. Sounds easy enough. Thanks

Just confirming what I think I'm reading - given I have the tailgate assist on my BH but no button on the fob, i just need to buy the fob w/ the button and have the dealer program it for me (not with alfaobd)?

quick one on max cruise setting... I'm changing it, but the "started, please wait" message doesn't clear, even though test staus advise its saved... this is the only change I've seen that doesn't give a confirmation message quickly...

oh yah i did already with others as well, it seems. that setting has to be in kph, and me not realizing that, it changed max cruise to 65mph, when i requested 105 lmao. it can def be adjusted with alfa.

Interesting. Do folks have luck with increasing it as well? Or does it use the lower of the two settings?

I don't follow the lower of the two comment, sorry. maybe I confused ya.. ask me a different way...

yes, based on the internet feedback, it's been done successfully. along with me changing it last night.

Maybe it's not two different speed limiter settings, but rather I was not aware that any ECM changes could be made with AlfaOBD.

If we can make changes to the ECM with AlfaOBD then we should be able to get access to the EB memory feature.

ah, gotcha.. there isn't an eb option that I've seen, but I thought alexy was on here, or another forum. I've emailed back and forth. pretty responsive.

and with the locked ECM's on '22's I wonder if this would even be possible on them.

Maybe it has to do with speed limiter settings being adjustable by the dealership?

I think you two are conflating max CRUISE limit with max SPEED limit.

I believe SPEED limit is ECU and not adjustable by AlfaOBD.

I'd have to look, but my max CRUISE goes all the way to the SPEED limiter.
