Please Post Payload Sticker from Driver's Door Jamb.

Yeh yeh yeh........I'm 70 years old. To me there are only 2 kinds of trucks. Long bed and short bed :-) Okay...you got me.....I have a Standard bed.
My father is 71, to him you have a regular bed, as in 8 foot... Or you have a woman's truck for getting groceries.... AKA.... Any that doesn't fit sheets of plywood or studs is meant for groceries and knitting supplies. Just ask him, he will tell you all about real trucks and back when there were real men.

Exactly ! I've always told people that if I couldn't put a full sheet of plywood in it and close the tailgate I wouldn't have it. Then my depth perception looking at the rear view mirrors started going bad and I kept backing into things with my long bed dually. My STANDARD bed is more parking lot friendly.

Why, what's your payload sticker say? Or you still waiting for your truck? As with you, I was looking at 2500s as well and realized it isn't going to tow what I want and upgraded to a 3500. I haven't received my truck yet but when I plug my VIN into the "look up your vehicle" option on the RAM site, I have well over 4,000 lbs of payload which is a lot. My truck has quite a few options too and it's an SRW.

Now what I don't know is how accurate that "look up my vehicle" option is versus what will actually be on the payload sticker when I get the truck. They better be damn close.

3356# That may not be the lowest on here for a 3500 SRW, I was just venting.

I think you ordered right, 4x2, long Box, Laramie, that should get you a good payload capacity but you never know until it shows up. If you match your specs to someone on here you should get an idea what it will be, I wish I saw this thread before I ordered.

At the end of the day I should have done my homework and simply missed the accessory, trim discussion affecting payload, would have been nice if the dealer also gave me a heads up too. I think I will get by for now with this truck, towing my 5th wheel maybe 10-12 times a year.

The take away for someone looking to order is, the payload charts show my truck should have been 4100# . However, the chart does not factor in trim level and other accessories you may add later and how that affects payload... Apparently the most expensive truck is the least able to tow for payload... go figure. I'm sure a lot on here will shake their head at me for not knowing that but its the first time I've ordered an HD truck where payload is king, its been an education. I guess I'll get it right next time...lol.

FWIW I ordered a fully loaded 2019 3500 SRW LTD with every option (Sunroof, 4x4, 6.7L HO, 5th wheel prep, dual alternators, 6.4 box , Mopar 20K 5th wheel hitch ect)

I hear you on the heads-up from the dealership, I missed out on the ttpms option because the dealer didn't tell me about that and it wasn't on the ram build site.

That’s why I keep the hitch in there, just be sure to yell land ho! Once you feel contact.

Price has nothing to do with capacity. A bare bones Tradesman has the highest ratings. That should have been your first clue when comparing payload ratings.

Had you ordered a long bed you also would have a higher payload. I vacillated between models (Trim) but in the end decided I wanted a Limited as the difference between a loaded Bighorn and LTD wasn't such a huge difference and I will still have 600-700 lbs to spare. I also opted out of the sunroof, not just for payload, but it did effect my decision. My online payload published was dead on with the door sticker @3707.

You're 100% correct that YOU should have done your homework. Ask lots of questions if you don't know.

Price has nothing to do with payload yet you say the lowest price truck has the highest payload.... Wow!

Of course I could have ordered a different truck and got a higher payload... whats your point? Because my point was the payload chart said the truck configuration I wanted which was a 4x4, 6.7L, 6.4 box, SRW, crew cab was 4180# payload. Except it isn't that payload... why? Because Trim levels add options, options add weight. For a newbie, how are you supposed to know adding a 5th wheel hitch, air suspension, dual alternators and a sunroof would take 800# off the stated payload. It may be easy for you to say I should had known that but this whole thread is about ppl saying what payload they actually got, not what they ordered ...

You know exactly what I meant as it was in response to "Apparently the most expensive truck is the least able to tow for payload. "

If you want to be pedantic, your statement is just about the WOW-est thing anyone could say. The payload numbers published are clearly base payload before options.

Sorry you're all butt hurt because you didn't do your research. Enjoy your truck.

I must really be showing my age,(60)+, but whatever happened to saying short bed or long bed? What's with this "standard" bed crap? Standard for whom? Quit comparing that wannabe 1500's lingo to our
real truck 2500-3500's. Always only been two choices on real trucks, short or long, 6.5 or 8 ft. Sorry, I'm gonna stop ranting now! Jeez, I feel like Clark Griswold from Christmas vacation! Where's the Tylenol!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe this has already been mentioned somewhere else but when I enter my VIN under "Look up my vehicle" under Towing & Payload Capacity, the numbers changed slightly from last Friday when they appeared for the first time under look up. Anyone have this happen? Both my PL and max towing went up 17lbs. Not complaining but I can't for the life of me figure out why it would change? I just got my window sticker as of 3/29.

@lovegolf44 we had a member on the 5th gen site win a law suit about the numbers.

Since she won, they have drastically improved the information set forth with the configurator.

Very possible your truck was listed low until someone could verify it and then you got the gain of 17 lbs when assured.

When we first started this, everyone thought their 1500 had 1840 payload and 11900 towing. They found out real fast that was wrong.

The payload and towing numbers are much better now.

Remember that GVWR and GCWR are the numbers that are constant and hold you to your limits.

Payload is just GVWR minus base weight.
Pretty easy to figure out.

But max tow is almost impossible to hit.

Unless you only tow with 300lbs of passenger/cargo and only have a 10% tongue weight...you never hit it.

The 3500 series has always been spot on with the ratings. The 2500 real close. But for awhile the 1500 crowd was just plain terrible.

Camping season here is on hold til atleast the 30th of April. Really sucks, but better safe than sorry.

Can not wait to tow with my 4th Gen and very excited to hear more information about the 4.5 Gen.

Almost talked myself into one, but I just really like the truck I have.

Thx DD. I was kind of hoping that maybe the numbers were adjusted last minute because it was weighed one more time before being shipped since the shipping process seem to be somewhat magical given what I read on this forum.

Regarding max tow, I believe it's mathematically impossible to hit.

My config according to the 2019 tow specs (SRW/8' box, CC, diesel 68RFE)
My CW=7725
My Max Tow (20575 from the "Look up my vehicle")
My PL = 4275
GCVR=28300 (2019 Tow chart)
GCVR-CW=20575

If my math is correct, no one could possibly tow their max rating pulling a 5th wheel because someone needs to drive the vehicle, let alone connect up to a 5th wheel hitch, etc.

At 20% tongue weight you are correct. But a smaller 5th wheel will allow you to be legal and leave you with enough tow to add a boat to the rear of your 5th wheel. :)

I'm just talking one's max towing/GCVR,. Unless I'm missing something, you'll never get there adding weight beyond the curb weight.

With the PL I have, I can't haul the real heavy 5th wheels but I will be able to haul a fairly big 5th wheel so I'm not too worried. :)

....and all of this is why i finally said screw it and ordered an HO dually w/4.10s. 5139 PL/ 34139 tow...I'll never have to worry about my 17k 5th wheel again. :)
