@lovegolf44 we had a member on the 5th gen site win a law suit about the numbers.
Since she won, they have drastically improved the information set forth with the configurator.
Very possible your truck was listed low until someone could verify it and then you got the gain of 17 lbs when assured.
When we first started this, everyone thought their 1500 had 1840 payload and 11900 towing. They found out real fast that was wrong.
The payload and towing numbers are much better now.
Remember that GVWR and GCWR are the numbers that are constant and hold you to your limits.
Payload is just GVWR minus base weight.
Pretty easy to figure out.
But max tow is almost impossible to hit.
Unless you only tow with 300lbs of passenger/cargo and only have a 10% tongue weight...you never hit it.
The 3500 series has always been spot on with the ratings. The 2500 real close. But for awhile the 1500 crowd was just plain terrible.
Camping season here is on hold til atleast the 30th of April. Really sucks, but better safe than sorry.
Can not wait to tow with my 4th Gen and very excited to hear more information about the 4.5 Gen.
Almost talked myself into one, but I just really like the truck I have.
