2021 3500 CCSB HO Build

Considering the design has never changed... not sure how.

It's the KDP of the 6.7. May never have issues but I would prefer not to have to worry about it and got some better airflow in the process
I just don’t hear about it anymore. subtle design change, Bolt hardness change, something happened.

The issue was the grid heater staying on they solved the issue pretty soon after

Decided to take off about 10" of my exhaust tip. It always sat at a weird angle to me and I much prefer the cleaner look now.

Chop saw and a flap disk got it to be a very clean cut.

Hopefully you won’t set your truck on fire during a regen.

Gah, @H3LZSN1P3R beat me to it, haha.

I also wonder what the exhaust temp is coming out of the 5th gen during regen. They changed the DPF/SCR for the 5th gen trucks and the exhaust is now 5" all the way back, so I'd be surprised if there are issues. At worst the plastic may melt a bit.

Not to derail the OP thread, but as I understand it, the issue was the bolt loosening , then arcing and breaking down enough to come apart inside the intake and get sucked into a cylinder.

That's correct. This is what I was afraid of happening with the grid heater.

If I'm melting plastic or on fire - I have other issues lol

I checked it. The pieces under the fender and the bumper were barely warm to the touch so I'm good.
I wonder if that is also the case with an emission on truck. I love the look of that and getting that pipe out of the crush zone would be great for more off road focused builds. I may have to test that next time I tow the trailer. I thought in the past about axel dumping right after the DPF but was worried that it would be too hot, not that there is much distance between them but hey.

Normal driving, yes. I would be worried about a regen though. I have seen one truck that dumps over the axle however he was kind of "cheating". He had no spare and a metal high clearance bumper.

EDIT - Here's a video of said truck. Look at the 12:30 mark.

Where are you getting 5th gen cummins info?

I'll eventually be dropping that spare from the location so I've got the clearance no problem. I thought it would be kind of cool to exit out the side of the bed, similar to how some pre-runner trucks do it (example).

I follow him on insta, nice dude and always available for feedback and such.

Nice I do like the look of those as well. That would definitely be more unique.

The tank is a perfect fit just under the bed-line. I'm super happy with this.

I'm thinking of offsetting the tank to the driver's side for easier filling and having the extra space for straps, etc. off to the right.

Another nooner while I play with it today lol.

Two things. #1 - those high noons are the bomb! I have at least 3 every golf outing, they help make up for my terrible skills. #2 - I like the idea of offsetting but considering the weight I'd prob center it for better handling and overall even weight distribution. Thats me.

Good thinking on the weight distribution. I'm just wondering if it's really offset enough to make a difference. What you see in the picture is as far over as it could go thanks to the tie down loop on the side of the bed.
