2021 3500 CCSB HO Build

Truck should be breathing even better soon. Just need to get the proper sized bit and tap to make the Ford 7.3 heating coil work. This thing is huge.

4th gen Banks 4" intake horn with grid heater delete coming soon. I'll be adding the heating element in that hole on the top. That's there already to give access to the 6th mounting hole for the horn itself.

This should be plenty of air flow

Wondering if you had a now longish term update on the add a pack? Still sitting at the .5-1” lift from it? And still noticeable improvement the over the giant overload leaf? Is the squeak or noice any worse or better?

Ya still quite happy with them. The rear sits half an inch higher than the front. I towed that camper I just got without a weight distribution hitch (I know, I know) and you can see from the pics it does not squat very much at all.

Very pleased with the ride. They do squeak but can only hear it at slow speeds across cattle guards, bumpy drives, etc. with the windows open.

Better photo of the finished product and got a shorter bolt for the oil dipstick and removed the tape.

Just an overview of parts:

ICT grid heater delete
Scheid #1 fuel line
Drilled and tapped 7.3 heating coil to replace grid heater
Mishimoto 4" t-bolt clamp on order

You'll notice the cheap hose clamp at the boost tube side. It'll work for now and needed the truck running again. That's where the Mishimoto one I ordered will go. The Banks coupler is so thick that I could not use the OEM clamp.

The heating coil works perfect. The truck builds boost quicker and is smooth with the delivery of it. The best way to describe it is effortless.

If this is accurate, this is almost comical for a truck on 37's. A mix of the intake horn/grid heater and changed engine management. It continued to go up to 21mpg on a 200+ mile trip.

Have to hand calculate it. My 2019 SO would show the same and I was actually getting ~`15mpg. My 2022 H shows almost half that. I plan to do similar mods, and would love to actually get that kind of mpg gains. Makes me want to install my 5th gen intake horn and exhaust I have sitting on the shelf sooner rather than later. Who's doing your engine management?

Yup I do need to double check it on my way back. Before I was getting an accurate 16-17mpg at most on the highway so it should still be pretty close.

Stock the highest I ever saw was 18mpg.

Got the storm damage all fixed on my camper. In it's temporary spot until I get the land work done that I want. This weekend I'm going out on my maiden voyage with it so yes, still truck related

Peep the work done above the door. Instead of adding back the original paneling, I went with a diamond plate header.

Added a tire cover and awning over the slide-out

Yes, the sewer hose goes nowhere. No, there's no poopy water coming out.

Just need to start burning coal, and then you’d fit right in if you move to rural Missouri lol

Two things…

1. What is the purpose of the grid heater delete? I was going to get the monster elbow and just leave the delete cause I live in Florida but why do that considering it seems like a necessary function for cold weather?

2. Did you do the whole package delete with all the Americas Hat parts? DPF, CAT, DOC, DEF, EGR, SCR?

If so that 20mil could be accurate or more?

The grid heater delete allows more flow for air and also removes a bolt that could fall into the intake and eat a cylinder. The Banks kit comes with a heating element that goes into the elbow instead.

Right below the oil dipstick on mine is a Ford 7.3 heating element. The cold weather function is still there.

So hand-calculated it is 17mpg on a tank with a good mix of highway and city. It is unfortunately skewed. Not too sure why it is now when it was accurate before.

That bolt issue was almost 10 years ago, they gotta have it under control by now..

Considering the design has never changed... not sure how.

It's the KDP of the 6.7. May never have issues but I would prefer not to have to worry about it and got some better airflow in the process

Thats still a huge improvement from where I am currently at. Honestly any improvement will be appreciated. Can't wait to get some more of these mods done.
