CAUGHT AGAIN: 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon:
Ram's Heavy Duty Offroader On The Streets...
Based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4×4 Crew Cab, the Power Wagon features a number of off-road-specific enhancements, including a unique suspension with more than two inches of lift and locking differentials. The Power Wagon trim of course will return on the revamped 2019 Ram 2500.
According to our sources, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 will return to power the mighty off-road pickup. Of course an automatic transmission will be standard, but we still are hoping for a new ZF-based 8-speed automatic to replace the old 66RFE 6-speed automatic. Thanks to spy photos, we know that the truck will still feature a column mounted shifter instead of a rotary-dial shifter like the 2019 Ram 1500.
The new 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will get a lot of upgrades for the new model year. With the upgrades exterior looks, full LED lighting will come with the new 2500 Power Wagon. We know the truck will get similar design-styled tail lamps as the 2019 Ram 1500, while still incorporating the 4th generation Ram’s pickup box.
From these new spy shots we can see that the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, keeps the “Rebel” styled grille like the 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. However, it is more square than before with its inter-grille section leading to the “RAM” text in the middle of grille. We expect that the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, like it’s 1500 Rebel brother will get the 360° camera on not towing mirror equipped models. You can see a flap in the grille of this particular model in the middle of grille where the camera would be. Also shown on this particular model, is the front sensors which seem to be more hidden into the fog lights and lower grille surround than just placed on the front bumper. This will give the 2019 model more of a clean look than the truck it is replacing.
We expect that like the 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon, the 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will offer a more non-frills Tradesman Crew Cab 4×4 model. This option does not include the same interior and exterior design elements like the LED lighting, but it will include the same unique off-road equipment, including the Warn 12,000-lb. electric winch mounted behind the front bumper, lockers, larger tires, electronic disconnecting sway bar, suspension and under-body armor.
We expect that like the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel, the 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon will be on stage in January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan.
