CAUGHT: 2019 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab Payload Testing:
Big Horn Model Has Optional LED Head Lamps and Halogen Fog Lamps...
For the past several months, we have been following the heavily updated 2019 Ram Heavy Duty as it undergoes testing on public roads. One particular part of the lineup that Ram has been very quiet about is the upcoming Chassis Cabs. While we have seen minimal camouflage and even various pre-production 2019 Ram Heavy Duty pickups running around for quite some time, we have yet to see to the Chassis Cab drop any of their heavy vinyl camouflage on any of the prototypes doing public testing.
While we already have a good idea of what they will look like thanks to the spy photos of the pre-production models, our photographers caught another 2019 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab doing payload testing this morning.
This particular Chassis Cab is unique since it is the first one we have seen with the LED headlights that also has the standard halogen fog lamps. We saw this on a completely uncovered Tradesman model a few weeks ago, but we assumed that it was because it had to have the LED tail lamps for the optional Blind Spot Monitoring system. While this Chassis Cab obviously doesn’t have the LED tail lamps from the pickup truck version, it leaves us wondering if the LED headlight package will just be optional on Tradesman models.
This would be entirely different than its half-ton counterpart. Currently, LED headlights are not available on the Tradesman trim in the Ram 1500 lineup. However on the 1500 Big Horn, the optional LED headlamps come with LED fog lamps. This Big Horn model does not.
We will be finding out all the details on January 14th, at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). HDRams.com and MoparInsiders.com will be covering the debut of the new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty lineup live from the floor at NAIAS.
