Build Sheet Gives Us Insight Into New Package...

In January, we were the first to break the news that the 2023 Ram 2500 would be getting a Rebel version. Thanks to an anonymous source, we know more about what that package will entail.

We recently received an email from an anonymous source with an equipment listing attached for what, at first glance, appears to be a pre-production 2023 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. But a closer look reveals some interesting things.

While things could change from pre-production, the way the equipment listing reads shows that the Rebel could be a package under the Power Wagon instead of being a stand-alone model. Based on the list and spy shots like the one above, it appears the Rebel package will be available with either the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 or the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. While Power Wagons carry a GVWR of 8,565 lbs, the Rebel is listed at 10,000 lbs GVWR, which should allow for higher payload ratings. The listing also mentions the new Sport Performance Hood, a new addition to the Heavy Duty lineup, and explains why so many prototypes are running around with the hood camouflaged.

Powertrain wise we see the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel as an option, backed by the 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission, which would denote this as a Standard Output, Cummins Turbo Diesel. Mentions are made of unique Rebel badging, Rebel suspension, rear auto-leveling air suspension, and the new power telescoping side view mirrors. Also listed is the new 12-inch digital instrument cluster we recently showed you in a 2023 Ram 1500.

While it looks like the Rebel package will best the Power Wagon in the towing and payload department, there will be some concessions for hard-core off-roaders. While the equipment listing shows an electronic rear locking differential, the front differential is listed as a conventional front diff meaning it likely doesn’t have the electronic locker the Power Wagons do. There is also no mention of the winch or electronic front sway bar disconnect in the equipment listing.

Stay tuned to HDRams as we will have more information on the new Ram 2500 Rebel as it becomes available.
