Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 6,066 units of fourth-generation Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, and 3500 Chassis Cab trucks that have been built with curtain airbag (CAB) inflators that may rupture, resulting in compressed gas rapidly escaping from the inflator and potentially propelling material into the vehicle. The material being propelled into an occupied vehicle may cause injury.

Recall Chronology
- On August 25, 2023, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into certain 2016 and 2018 to 2020 model year Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, and 3500 Chassis Cab vehicles that may have been built with a suspect CAB inflator that could rupture.
- From August 25, 2023, through December 16, 2024, FCA US TSRC worked with the CAB supplier to collect failed parts from the field and conduct a detailed analysis of CAB inflator ruptures. The investigation determined that the affected vehicles were built with inflators from lots that may have had moisture introduced during supplier manufacturing, potentially causing internal corrosion over time and leading to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the inflator.
- As of January 9, 2025, FCA US is aware of five customer assistance records, one warranty claim, and zero field reports potentially related to this issue across all markets, with receipt dates ranging from July 17, 2023, to June 14, 2024.
- As of January 9, 2025, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue across all markets.
- On January 9, 2025, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
