Back in November, the RAM brand introduced its new 2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition special edition model. The new special edition celebrated the 75th anniversary of the brand’s iconic model in the heavy-duty pickup segment. With a unique styling treatment and premium content, it created a Power Wagon, unlike anything we have seen with the modern rendition of the off-road-oriented model.
This past week, our keen eye spy photographers have captured another variant of the Power Wagon out testing around the streets of Metro Detroit.
Taking a close look at this Power Wagon tester, we see it has a lot in common with the new 75th Anniversary Edition while retaining some of the current standard Power Wagon features. Starting with the graphics, we see that the nostalgic graphics which are a throw-back to the Macho Power Wagon of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Replacing them are the same graphics shown on the 75th Anniversary Edition models.
From the side, we see that this Power Wagon has ditched its 8-spoke 17-Inch x 8-Inch black-painted aluminum wheels in favor of the 75th Anniversary Edition’s 17-Inch x 8-Inch bead-lock capable ones. We also see the 75th Anniversary Edition’s awesome pair of rock rails with side-step capability.
Upfront, we see that this tester keeps the standard Power Wagon’s LED headlamps over the blacked-out premium units found on the 75th Anniversary Edition. We also see that the standard Power Wagon grille has been swapped out for the 75th Anniversary Edition’s heritage-themed “jail bar” grille, however, it does not feature the blacked-out R-A-M text in the grille like the 75th model. Instead, it features standard silver R-A-M text.
So what does this mean for Power Wagon? Does this mean that the standard Power Wagon will get the new “jail bar” grille and graphics package from the 75th Anniversary Edition model? We don’t know just yet. It could be a possibility.
Stay tuned to HDRams.com, as we will continue to investigate.
