Ram Trucks Introduces The Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn To The Brazilian Market!
Ram 3500 Brings Laramie, Laramie Night Edition, & Limited Longhorn To Brazil...
Since arriving in Brazil in 2005, the Ram 2500 has been the most powerful and capable pickup in the market. In April 2021, Ram began deliveries of its second product for the country, the Ram 1500 Rebel. Less than a year later, Ram is launching the Ram 3500 to represent not only the new top-tier product but the entire segment.
Already arriving in 55 dealerships across Brazil, Ram is aiming to deliver the four core pillars of the brand with strength, capacity, luxury, and technology. The Ram 3500 is the first Ram model to be launched in Brazil with two prominent models. There is the Laramie, which includes the popular darkened Night Edition option. Then there is the Limited Longhorn, an unprecedented configuration in the country that carries the maximum sophistication within the brand.
Strength –
At the heart of the Ram 3500, is the iconic 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six-cylinder engine. The engine produces 377 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm, the highest power among all diesel pickups in Brazil (12 more than the Ram 2500). Even more impressive is its torque rating of 1,150 Nm (845 ft.-lbs.) of torque @ 1,700 rpm, a record number in the segment (65 Nm or 48 ft.-lbs. more than the Ram 2500). Unlike 2500, the Ram 3500 has the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, which uses Arla 32 (also known as DEF in North America) to treat exhaust gases and reduce pollutant emissions.
As for the transmission, a 6-speed automatic transmission is standard. One of its highlights is the Variable Force Solenoid (VFS) of the torque converter, which has the function of smoothing shifts when shifting from R (Reverse) or D (Drive) to P (Park) position. Through electronic controls on the dashboard, the driver can choose between 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO traction modes. The rear differential is non-slip.
Capacity –
The new Ram 3500 has unrivaled numbers when it comes to loading and towing. Thanks to an extremely rigid chassis, formed with 98.5% high-strength steels and the exclusive suspension, with longitudinal springs, resulting in a lot of aptitude for heavy work, honoring the Heavy Duty category of which it is a part, but without sacrificing the ride comfort of a premium pickup.
The Brazilian-spec Ram 3500 is capable of carrying a load of up to 1,752 kg (3,862 lbs) and towing up to 9,021 kg (19,888 lbs). Far ahead of any other pickup sold in Brazil, even the Ram 2500, which can carry 1,088 kg (2,398 lbs) and tow 7,861 kg (17,330 lbs). That is 664 kg (1,463 lbs) and 1,160 kg (2,558 lbs) less, respectively. All this capability is assisted with the gear limiter, electronic trailer brake control, in addition to the Diesel Exhaust Brake and Tow/Haul function.
The RamBox also features side box bins, which are fully sealed, lockable, and have a volume of 122 liters each. Regardless of the configuration, the Ram 3500’s bed includes a spray-in bed liner coating and LED lighting.
Even the outside rearview mirrors add to the pickup’s capability. They are multifunctional, with two lenses with independent electrical controls, anti-fog, position, turning, and courtesy lights. Not to mention that the mirrors can be placed vertically, to increase the field of vision when pulling a trailer.
Luxury –
The new Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn displays most of the brand’s sophistication and it’s very easy and quick to see that. Simply open the door, climb on the standard retractable electric footboard (also on the Laramie Night Edition) and enter the cabin. You are immediately surrounded by noble materials such as Natura Plus leather and genuine wood on all sides.
In an elegant combination of Cattle Tan and black, the leather has contrasting stitching and not only covers the seats but also several surfaces: part of the steering wheel, the gear lever, the cover and the interior portion of the dashboard, the interior access handles. The armrests and the upper door panel, and the central armrest, also serve as a cover for the huge storage compartment.
In turn, wood, in different textures, are present in parts of the steering wheel, strips on the doors, center console, and panel details. The material lends even more exclusivity to the Ram 3500, as each pickup has different details, due to the wood’s own characteristics. One of the most eye-catching touches is the strip in front of the front passenger, with the version name (Limited Longhorn Edition) laser-printed.
Also striking are the gold finishes with filigree on the speedometer and tachometer rims, on the dashboard and center console. Even the 3500 Limited Longhorn rugs are special, with a trim badge, country-themed embossed designs, and Berber-type parts that can be detached for easy cleaning. The western inspiration is also seen in the buckles of the magazine holders on the backs of the front seats.
Outside, the Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn stands out for its exclusive grille, wheel design, and its two-tone paint scheme with the upper body painted in either Pearl White or Delmonico Red, with the lower part of the cabin, wheel arches, bumpers, and details of the wheels in Walnut Brown.
Technology –
The standard level of technological features of the Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn is yet another high point. Starting at the front, with the Full LED Matrix directional headlamps, exclusive to the pickup truck segment. This technology increases nighttime visibility when cornering, with the projector following the steering wheel position, turning the headlight on the corner by up to 15° and the headlight on the opposite side by up to 5°.
There are also many other highlights (which are also part of the Laramie Night Edition version) such as digital rearview mirror, extensive driving assistance package (ADAS), with adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop, forward collision alert with autonomous braking, and lane-keep assistant, and premium sound system by Harman Kardon, with 17-speakers and a subwoofer (Laramie models come with a 10-speaker Alpine system with subwoofer).
All models of the Ram 3500 have a 360° camera, which facilitates maneuvering with the full-size pickup over 6 meters (19 feet) in length, front and rear parking sensors, in addition to the exclusive bed camera, useful for monitoring loads or facilitating the coupling in the trailer. Another highlight is the Uconnect 5 multimedia center with a 12-inch screen (the largest in the category) and wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for two smartphones, as well as, active external noise cancellation.
There are both heated and ventilated seats in the front and back on Limited Longhorn (Laramie models have heated rear seats) and heated steering wheel. There are power-adjustable pedals, a 10-way power driver seat, and passenger seats with memory settings for the driver.
