What made you pick THAT model when you ordered your truck?

I've wanted a diesel truck for a while after reaching the limits of what gassers could do for me moving forward. I have always owned Chevy trucks. It really came down to the grills of the new Chevy's being ass ugly which got them ruled out.
My son has also had relatively good luck with the Cummins Ram's he's had recently that he uses to pull horse trailers with, so I went that direction. I chose the BigHorn because it had the options I desired for the interior.

Agreed, I also find those new Chevy front ends are hideous. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I never looked at Ford or GM because I currently have both megacab and ramboxes, and my new truck has to have both of them as well.

Almost all the things that make up the Limited. IOW, the overall package.

best leather
much lights
most gadgets

There are many factors that move us towards an outcome. Too many to list so let's just call it life.

Loved the whole package the PW offered...the looks and the offroad capability. Then, loaded it with the tech to suit my nerdy side.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. With the 2500, wanted something similar as far as tech. When I was ordering, they removed the BSM AND power folding mirrors, so I moved up to Limited to get these features that are necessary for me and my daily driving.

I ordered a 2500 limited mega cab 6.4 with ramboxes to replace my 1500 Laramie that I’m passing on to my son. I wanted something a little more capable than the 1500 towing and payload wise and the megacab for a little more rear seat legroom for my teenage kids. The 6.4 was my biggest debate, but I’ve loved the zf-8 speed in my 1500 and I just don’t tow enough miles per year to justify the diesel. I did opt for the 4.10 gears so it should tow my trailers just fine.

Ordered my Tradesman 3500 CCLB, with the main options being Tradesman Level 2, Chrome, & Snow Chief. Looks and feels almost like a Bighorn (except for the door panels - can’t Mopar put SOME kind of elbow cushion on there?!?!) but came in much cheaper. Don’t like leather (but do like chrome lol) and prefer the 5” screen with big knobs for audio and HVAC controls, plus manual transfer case shifter. If a manual transmission was available I would’ve gotten that too. Just wanted a “basic” truck with a few upgrades.

Ordered my 3500 limited mega cab Ho srw NE to replace my 2013 2500 mega cab Laramie. My toyhauler is technically too heavy for the 2500, and used prices are still up so financially it sorta made sense. An optioned out Laramie is close to the same price as a limited, or close enough. Better leather on the seats, and I was less worried about my trucks options getting changed due to the chip shortage.

I wanted a tradesman 2500 to replace my '14 1500 tradesman. Long story short, you can't get the rear floor buckets on the tradesman's anymore. Love that feature. Also, if you add certain options to the tradesman, it forces you into the chrome package. Not a fan of the chrome on these trucks, little too loud for my tastes. Went with a big horn sport to get rid of the chrome but found that adding the ram box forces you into the level c package (not the case with the tradesman). So at this point I was well above where I had started out and figured Id throw in the LED headlights and call it a job. Luckily I found Mark Dodge and this mid optioned big horn is only a few thousand more than what I planned on paying for a mid optioned tradesman. Now just hoping the thing actually gets built someday.

I ordered my new one with the Bighorn package only because that is the highest trim level you can get on a regular cab HD. I then added in as many additional options as I could to fit my needs.

Had a kid, started hunting, fishing, and camping more, and decided the 4Runner just wasn't cutting it for those activities - especially when the kid was involved. Didn't want to tow a trailer to camp with all our gear, and I was tired of putting dead **** in the 4Runner. And with the dog crate, the trunk was half full to begin with.

Wanted a Raptor, but the discounts on the Power Wagons were too good to pass up. Plus I see maybe 1 Wagon for every 20 Raptors on the road. And, the interior on the 75th AE was just too nice of a space to be in.

  • Money, did not want to spend more than $65kish
  • Do not care for leather, actually prefer cloth seats
  • Wanted air suspension
  • Wanted 18vs 20inch wheels.
  • Bucket seats was a want
  • Level 2, liked advanced gauges and dual zone AC better
  • Painted bumpers, sport package since I am in my 40s. I feel the chrome bumpers and door step combo look like a grandfathers truck. hahahah
The Big Horn was the best value, I think.

I’m moving up from a 1500 Tradesman EcoDiesel to a 2500 Laramie Hemi.

The Laramie represents the best bang for the buck (for me), and will be an amazing step up from the Tradesman. Looking forward to the 6.4 Hemi after 7 years and 160,000 miles in the good old 3.0 V6 diesel.

I went with a Tradesman for one big reason, sounds dumb, but a rubber floor instead of carpet. Nothing worse to me than dragging my muddy camping boots in and out of the truck and then fight like hell to get it out of the carpet when I get home.
Same with us.

2021 Tradesman
3500 SRW SO Cummins crew cab 4x4 short bed

First and foremost I set out to order my truck for my business to tow day in/day out. Number one priority was getting everything I actually needed and keep costs as low as possible since we were just starting out.

For the work I do, I needed the shortest wheel base but still needed to haul around the most important cargo on occasion, my kids!

So it was tradesman for me, with just the options I needed and got the truck for 52k.

That said, it is still a really nice truck! I have the 8.4 uconnect (justified because of the AA) and love the vinyl floors and seats. They are easy to clean and the vinyl seats are basically 90's leather haha. We have also made use of the front bench seat multiple times as I always have the 2 car seats installed in the back. You can also comfortably sit between the car seats in the rear which can't be said about any of our other vehicles.

The biggest thing I went back and fourth on with my order was HO vs SO Cummins. If I could have got the SO Cummins with the Aisin trans I would have! That one was ultimately decided on by estimated operating costs. I believe the Cummins Aisin combo is the stoutest drive train in the HD market today.

For a while, I was set on a 3500 SRW, and had the same quandary. But for my hauling needs, the SO is more than adequate. So the decreased fuel mileage was just not worth it to me to go to the HO.

Got my 75th PW for 65K.

Ended up with a big horn night edition level 1 with towing tech.

1. I was originally sold on a Laramie but didn’t like the “leather” seats, they’re too hot in the summer here.

2. And after playing with the 12” screen I liked the knobs better and the 8.4 screen is plenty big. I also have always been a fan of bench seats so I was happy to get a bench seat truck.

3.I do wish I could have found a level 2 big horn after living with my truck for a while, I miss the power sliding rear window ( last truck was a tundra with a roll down rear window, honestly the best feature ever), and while I can count on 1 hand how many times I would have used heated seats/ wheel it would still be nice to have.

4. The only other things I missed when I got my truck but knew I could fix them so they weren’t deal breakers were led lights (already upgraded), passive entry (driver door and tailgate are done, still need to get to the passenger door). And the 7” cluster display, I keep going back and forth if I’m actually going to upgrade the cluster or just add a insight or something to monitor the extra stuff I want to. I feel like the current cluster gives me all the info I need I just wish I could see more of it at a time, but I know I still be limited with a 7” cluster where I wouldn’t be with an aftermarket display.

I currently have a Ram 1500 Longhorn but needed a more heavy duty truck for a new travel trailer. I didn’t want a diesel. The Chevy/GMC gas only comes with a six speed and neither the six speed nor the GM 8 speed have a very good reputation, the F250 with the 7.3 comes with a ten speed trans however measuring the few F250’s on the lot they are too tall (or real borderline) to clear the garage door. The Ram 2500 overall height is 2-1/2”-3” lower than the Ford. There were several towing options that Were unavailable on a Laramie that I could get on a Limited Longhorn and I absolutely love my 1500 Longhorn interior so much that I went with another one. I was able to order 18” tires for a better ride over the 20 inchers. And, my old eyes really like the big 12” screen.
