What did you do TO your RAM today?

I realize the cost for this is literally 50x the cost to replace u-joints, but has anyone toyed with RCV CV joints? I love the idea of removing the u joint for something that isn't going to bind.
I had a set on my JK they are awesome but expensive with the HD nature of these joints id be less inclined to go with them but they are nice

umm... they not cheap for sure, but food for thought. I'll do u-joints this time around... I can rebuild the whole front end (u-joints, Apex steering upgrades, and Ball joints) for less than the cost of the axles.

Everything I read says the RCV CV is stronger than u joint on the rams. Guys on the DTX group always recommend D60 first, but if you're not gonna swap the AAM 9.25 and can stomach the cost, the RCVs are a pretty stout option, especially since they delete the CAD.

Oh for sure. They are not even remotely cheap, like I said roughly 50x more than u-joint replacement.

Hah..Famous last words...That's what we all like to think/say...then you see another shiny new thing someone else put on their truck.
Lol, ya I know. Maybe some minor things like a screen protector or a blacked out third brake light. I purposely didn't get auxillary switches so I wouldn't go crazy adding extra lighting.

Unless you are doing some serious off-road or boosted launches i dont see the cost to be worth it also after having Non CAD cummins trucks in the past i much prefer the CAD setup personally. If it was a dedicated off-road truck sure it may make sense.

If they weren’t quite so pricey I’d go with RCVs just to eliminate the crazy crow hop you get in these trucks while turning in 4wd.

CVs are way stronger than U-joints, so unless you get a defective one you shouldn’t ever have to worry.

You would probably give up steering angle with the CVs but I do like RCVs. been running a set for years in the crawler

Even if you do blow them up RCV has lifetime warranty. A friend of mine has snapped the shaft on one in his crawler/ rock bouncer no issue getting a free replacement

Not a huge project but a stressful one. Installed the factory puck kit and 7 way bed plug finally so we can pick up the new 5er soon. The frame mounts weren’t bad but drilling holes in your bed can be anxiety inducing. With the help of a few members here and stalking the local dealership I drilled right down on the mounts, maybe off a 16th or so. In other words…perfect!

I have the B&W adjusted back and high hoping to lock out the Turning Point kingpin. That is such a nice hitch, albeit heavy as f@/$ !

Timber Grove bags this weekend if I don’t work and then I’m ready to pick up the new coach.

Damn. Looks like a lot of hassle. What you gonna be pulling with it? Mine came with goose neck prep package. I also opted for the lightweight 35LBS Andersen hitch for my 5th. Pulls my 11K Lb rig like a dream, made 11k miles with this set up without any issues.
