I am saying towing long trips. Thats why the 1 ton has a different trans.
My truck 2500 tradesman crew, short bed 6.7 rated at 18,290 with the 3.73. 80% towing would be 14,632
Ram 3500 crew, 8ft 6.7 HO w3.73 rated at
25,120 so 60% towing would be 15,072
Ram 3500 crew, 8ft. 6.7 HO w 4.10 rated at 34,120 45% towing would be 15,354
So if I was going to take long trips towing a 14k trailer I would buy the 3500 w 3.73.
If it was a 5th wheel more wind resistance I would be better off with 4.10 for less strain over the lifetime of the truck.
Towing at 80% on flat ground with no wind might work but I don't live anywhere like that. I am not pulling that kind of weight so my 18,290 towing capacity works for me .
