Steering wheel controls stop working

On my 2023 the steering wheel controls stopped working. This has happened about 4-5x. They have applied an update, which got them working for a few weeks. They have replaced the switches on the wheel, which got them working for a few weeks.
They have replaced the entire steering wheel assembly, and they only worked for about 12 hours after that. A few of the visits they determined parts were wrong or had an imperfection, so I had to go back. Each time I went in with non working controls, I left with working controls.

Very annoying. Anyone else have similar issues? Getting tired of having to take my truck in for this.
I just bought a new 24' and at around 1500 miles my controls stopped working also

I just bought a new 24' and had my steering wheel controls stop working at 1500 miles. I found a post on a Facebook group and they mentioned to remove fuse F82 and reseat it. This got mine to work again. Not sure if it's a permanent fix.

I did the remove the battery post trick and it worked for a few days as I think I mentioned earlier in this post.

So after mine went to the shop to replace the buttons on the steering wheel, I honestly think it was a lose connection as mentioned by others.

I've done the battery disconnect trick 3x now to get my controls back working. Each time, the "fix" has lasted a different length of time. Just stopped working again today.
This pisses me off so much. @RamCares fix this BS!!

Case#90794036 - This is my case # with US customer care. Ram is unable to fix my truck. They have tried numerous times, and they are now circling back replacing the same parts that were previously replaced 1 and 2 times already.

This is still working for me... Please try this out for yourselves. Was a bit tedious finding/reading the fuse slot numbers, but . . .
So... Here is an update on my particular situation with the aforementioned steering wheel issue. I removed the fuse for 41a & b, it is a 15amp blue fuse pretty much in the middle of the fuse cluster. I simply removed it rubbed it off a bit, fuse still looked intact and then put it back in its receptacle. VOILA, all functionality was restored. Heated Steering wheel, yep; left front of steering wheel button working, yep; rear buttons on both sides of steering wheel working, yep! Just in case I wanted to get some new fuses as well. Auto Zone did not have them but Advanced did. Replaced with a brand-new fuse and it still was working as it should. I will keep this updated if it changes. One odd thing did happen on my attempt to drive to the auto parts store... I had removed the fuse and gently replaced the cover to access the pedals to make the drive and when I started the truck the windshield wipers were on and would not turn off, no matter what I did. So, I put the old fuse back in and made the drive as normal and removed the fuse when I arrived at the auto parts store. 5 fuses were about $7/US. Fingers crossed.

I am having this exact issue on my 2024 3500 with 10K miles. Steering wheel controls all stopped working all except cruise+shift buttons.
Already battery reset 3x and every time it works for few days and goes out again. Brought to dealership already and 2days later they said it was "loose connector" causing this. I picked up and the very next day it stopped working again! Now I have brought it back to same dealer again now at 3 days mark with no solution still. I read thru all the posts here and what I like to know is what is the fix here!! Its a work truck so I need my truck I'm losing money every day the dealership has my truck!
HELP!!!!!!!!!

There doesn’t appear to be one definitive solution yet, unfortunately. A few different things have worked for different folks.

Tried that before mine went in for repair.
Did not work with mine

Well add me to the list. Stopped working mid drive yesterday 2/9/25. Same as all above. Left side dead, right side volume controls dead, cc works fine, steering wheel heat is way hotter than normal. 24 Laramie 2500, 7200 miles. I've already had to have the transmission replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago and that took nearly 5 weeks. Now this!! I'm about ready to cut ties with this truck.

Sorry to hear that.

Transmission replaced?! Wow.

I'm curious about the fuse you're referencing here. I've attached a picture of my fuse diagram and fuse 41 is for the grill shutter actuator or something. There is not a 41 a & b. However, I do see that on my truck F82 is for the SCCM/CC. I'm sure the fuse arrangements may vary from year to year and model to model based on trim level and added accessories, etc. What year make & model is your truck? My truck is a 24 Laramie for reference.

I pulled and re-seated the F82 fuse and reset the SCCM. That cured the issue for now but I suspect it will come back based on others comments here. It would seem to me that resetting the SCCM points to a module issue. I guess it's possible to be triggered by a hard connectivity issue like loose connectors or wiring getting pulled too tight. Not sure why Ram Engineering can't figure this one out.

I added audio steering wheel controls to my tradesman, I'm hoping this doesn't happen to me. Anyone here that added audio controls to there tradesman have this issue yet?

I’ve had the same problem with my 2024 RAM 3500 MegaCab Cummins with 29,000 miles: the left side steering wheel controls (and back buttons) randomly quit working every 1,200-3,000 miles.

Truck has been taken to 2 dealers at least 7 times for: clock-spring replacement; left button replacement; right button replacement. Problem always returns after 1-4 months of driving.

Disconnecting the battery will fix the buttons for a few days or weeks, but the problem always returns.

One potential cause: the problem has only ever happened when my Banks Pedal Monster is installed. Of the 12+ times the buttons have quit working, 100% of the time it’s been when my Banks Pedal Monster is installed (I remove it when going to the dealer). I can’t say for sure but have wondered if the Pedal Monster might rarely trigger a current/short circuit issue that requires a battery reset. Correlation is not causality, but having the problem ONLY ever occur when the Banks is installed, at least 12 times over the past 10 months and 29,000 miles, is suspicious to me.

Will try pulling the fuse F82 instead as others have suggested, maybe replacing it. Not sure what to do at least point except to either leave the Banks Pedal Monster out permanently, or ask Banks to send me a new one in case that’s the root cause and it has a hardware defect.

How many others are using the Pedal Monster?
