I will add this. Right before my left steering buttons went out, I add switch pros eight button module. Hooking the positive cable for the switch module did throw a few sparks lol. Maybe that caused an issue. Didn't have an issue before that.
This is great info, thanks for sharing it. I've wondered about this, we all toss parts at it and sometimes it's fixed, sometimes not, sometimes comes back. In my case a new clock spring didn't fix it, then 2nd clock spring fixed it (for now). So maybe all that's happening is when they replace something the sketchy wiring is moved enough to work again, then over time it disconnects again. If mine recurs I'm definitely sharing this with the dealer.I had this same issue intermittently after a few months of taking delivery of my 24. Took it to my dealer and below is a screenshot of the Tech's notes on what he discovered and the actions he took. In a nutshell, the service tech appeared to notice a loose connector to the left side of the steering wheel switches along with what reads like poor wiring management to the SCCM. He re-routed the connector wiring and reseated the loose switch connector and the issue hasn't resurfaced for me since. I've driven about 6K miles since I brought it in. Not sure this helps anyone, but could be a factory QC issue with a loose steering wheel switch connector/poor wiring management to the SCCM?

Definitely. Sometimes, the simplest answer is the right one. I'm a believer at this point because it happened almost every other time I drove the thing, and now it doesn't.This is great info, thanks for sharing it. So... Here is an update on my particular situation with the aforementioned steering wheel issue. I removed the fuse for 41a & b, it is a 15amp blue fuse pretty much in the middle of the fuse cluster. I simply removed it rubbed it off a bit, fuse still looked intact, and then put it back in its receptacle. VOILA, all functionality was restored. Heated Steering wheel, yep; left front of steering wheel button working, yep; rear buttons on both sides of steering wheel working, yep! Just in case I wanted to get some new fuses as well. Auto Zone did not have them but Advanced did. Replaced with a brand-new fuse and it still was working as it should. I will keep this updated if it changes. One odd thing did happen on my attempt to drive to the auto parts store... I had removed the fuse and gently replaced the cover to access the pedals to make the drive and when I started the truck the windshield wipers were on and would not turn off, no matter what I did. So, I put the old fuse back in and made the drive as normal and removed the fuse when I arrived at the auto parts store. 5 fuses were about $7/US. Fingers crossed.I am curious about the recall aspect of it. I just bought a 2023 Ram Limited 1500 4x4 with 22k-ish miles on it from a non- Ram Dealership. Issue just popped up 6 days after leaving the dealership. Steering wheel will not heat from any point to turn it on. The rear buttons on both sides of the steering wheel do not work, and the front buttons on the left side do not work, so you cannot view trip odometer, oil life bar etc...But the cruise control part all works fine? I watched a video last night on YT of a gent replacing the SCM, tedious but doable. When I enter my VIN on NHTSA the report back comes that there are no open recalls for my Truck. All that being said, I would hope that I am still covered under the 3 year/36k bumper to bumper? Thoughts and advice appreciated!
Lettuce know how the visit goes and if there's a resolution.New member here. And yep, you guessed it… I ran across this thread on this forum looking for answers on why the buttons on my steering wheel quit working.
4 month old 2024 Ram 2500 Laramie with 6k miles and I’m here with the same issues. Left button on steering wheel that controls dash display and both buttons on the back (left and right) that control radio function will not work. Display is stuck on the exhaust filter gauge.
After reading this post I did disconnect both batteries for 5 minutes then hooked them back up. Switches on the steering wheel started working again. 4 days later while driving home from work they stopped again.
Heading to the dealer so they can diagnose tomorrow.
It’s a huge hassle for me to miss work to bring a brand new truck in for repair. After reading all the repair attempt shenanigans in this thread, I’m not optimistic that it will be resolved tomorrow.
With this many owners having the exact same issue, it seems as Ram should be getting a handle on this electrical problem and resolve it.
2/3 of the buttons on my steering wheel does not function. How do I know the airbag will work in the event it needs to?
My take on air bag, from talking with a tech about it, is they haven't been affected. Could be wrong, but none of us are getting air bag warning lights. On mine they found the air bag powered and ok, I think they said power to it is separate, though it certainly has to go through the clock spring.New member here. Fingers crossed for you.Well, they said it’s the buttons on the steering wheel as the clock spring tested good. Parts on order and will arrive within a week to install.
Was interesting that the service guy said they had another one like mine with the same issues recently. They changed the clock spring first and same issues popped back up. 2nd visit they changed the buttons on the steering wheel and the problem did not show back up.
I do have to give props to Matt Bowers Dodge in Baton Rouge for the fantastic service department. Have not had fantastic service like that at a dealership in a very long time.
Let’s see if the button replacement cures it on the repair visit next week.
I believe there is a bulletin for that.I had this same issue intermittently after a few months of taking delivery of my 24. At the risk of jinxing myself, the steering wheel still has all functionality after my trial-and-error move with just the fuse removal and replacement. Will keep this updated as time marches on...So... Here is an update on my particular situation with the aforementioned steering wheel issue.
