So, I'm looking at installing a leveling kit in my 3500 and want to go with a Ready Lift SST kit 3" front/1" rear and Ready Lift says the kit won't work with vehicles equipped with the snow plow prep group. I asked why since Ram states the group only includes an upgraded alternator and transfer case skid plate. Nothing about stiffer springs or anything like that. I know a Ford with the snow plow prep has upgraded stiffer springs.

Does anyone know if the Ram does as well? I can't find anything online saying that it does.

Well, this is interesting. Just had this conversation.

I have never seen anything that says it does, but a guy on another forum has a payload 800lbs more than he normally would and he has the snow plow prep.

So my guess after years of not knowing,

YES, the snow plow prep does do something to the front axle and/or suspension.

I have the same option on my '19 3500 as you do. I asked Ready Lift about this as well and they told me the same thing...so...I went with a Carli 3.25" Commuter Lift. Get's installed tomorrow...I hope! Ready Lift is full of caca. The snow plow prep group is simply as you stated. Carli said it won't be a problem. The Ram HD's do come with stiffer springs (progressive springs) as I have been told, but, like you, I have been unable to find that in writing or media.

Funny thing with Ready Lift - I spoke to two different sales people - one said the 3" lift would work and the other said it would not on our trucks. I gave up and went with Carli...more expensive, but at least I know I'm getting a quality build.

I have a 1 1/2 inch lift neoprene spring spacers in my 3500 with plow prep, would like to get a 2 1/2 But the wife would have trouble getting in the truck, cost 40.00, 150.00 to get installed

I can't wait to see how it looks! I'm looking at getting the Carli 2.5" kit. I do recall with my 2018 3500, I had a 2" leveling spacer installed and it did not sit level. It was a bit nose high and didn't look right. I talked to a parts manager at a dealer that I know and she said there are so many different front coil factory spring options, that the snow plow prep group trucks do come with a different spring. You're right about Carli, its going to be a better product all around. You pay for what you get. I hope you'll post some pics tomorrow.

I only went 1 1/2 because when I tow a trailer I didn't want that Carolina squat going on.

Has anyone been able to run spring part numbers on trucks with or without the prep option or 100 percent verify ride height and or front axle payloads? Ford definitely ups the front axle payload rating and they usually sit a little higher, very curious what ram really does for the prep package as I did order it on my 21 due in any day

Its nothing different with the suspension or axle but it handles a plow well my plow weighs in at 730lbs and only drops the truck .75 of an inch

I know it may not seem like anything is different visually, but have you actually verified spring tags p/ns between two similar trucks with and without the option and also verified axle weight ratings on both door stickers?

They dont have different spring numbers except gas vs diesel.... and they only have one front axle for the 2500/3500 4x4s they are all 6000kg axles there is no other listings right from the dealer listings

And ram has 2 different plow packages the plow prep and then what i have its the snow chief the chief has the 220amp alternator, rear anitspin axle, aux switches, different tires clearance lamps and t case skid plate .... the biggest difference is the non plow prep does not have the compatibility brackets and no sleeved holes in the frame where the compatibility bracket goes.

Compatibility brackets and sleeved holes are both new to this thread and package discussion in general, please do tell us more? Have never once heard of this from any official fca source or tech guide.

@H3LZSN1P3R

Could you look at your door sticker and verify front and rear axle ratings?

Anyone with the plow prep that could do the same?

On my 2015 for instance the charts say a 6000lb rear axle. Mine has 6500lb.

As I was about to post this I noticed you may be Canadian.

Edit: maybe not. Your post says KG but the 5500 lb axle is 2495kg.

But there are different ratings for front axle...and the charts are for a base truck. So they wouldn't show an optional set up.

Just trying to get some info to the thread.

I tried going through the payload thread. But it seems most everybody only posted the tire and loading sticker

Can anyone post their other sticker like mine above.

Would be great to get gasser and diesel.

Regular, plow prep and snow chief

Now we are getting somewhere, I like it... soon as my truck hits the dealer I will update with sticker photo and spring tag info

Mine is 2019 2500 cclb cummins with snow chief pkg 6000 front gawr 6040 rear gawr

Weird my 2019 Power Wagon has higher RAWR than your Cummins ...6200lbs. FAWR only 4750lbs though, which I believe is why they don’t “permit” plows to be installed on Power Wagons. I do have plow wiring blunt cuts under the fuse box like any other 2500.

You should not have the wiring but thats cool its there, also odd the rawr is higher
