Official 2025 Ram HD

There are two drain petcocks that look identical to the old one, mounted at angles so they should be easy to access. There's a y-shaped hose connected to both.

Oh nice, thanks for that. I need to watch a more deep dive video. I can't wait for some real world tests to come out. How much quicker is this thing with the new ZF? Looking forward to it.

All 19+ HD’s, aside from the PW 19-22, use the 12” housing. The guts just depended on gas/SO vs HO.

From what I recall the 11.5 and 12.0 carriers are different, so there would have to be a 12.0 e-locker version.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if 2500’s kept the 11.5” R&P even with the increased torque since their GVWR/GCWR didn’t go up. Ford/GM have both had different 3/4 vs 1 ton rear axles with a single power rating.
Agreed on what trucks have had the 12" housing with the 11.5" internals, but only the '23 and '24 PW/Rebel have had that configuration with a locker. Can't say for certain that the carrier does or doesn't swap over though. Don't know how it would stand up behind the new Cummins though.

I'd almost bet that the change was done in prep for the Cummins change. The Cummins Rebel 2500 is going to put out the same power as a dually 3500, so I'd think they'd want to put a 12" gearset behind it. Stands to reason they wouldn't want to make multiple e-lockers.

I would think the same, but GM uses the 11.5" on their 2500's and 12.0" on their 3500's with the same power. Ford has done the same on 250's with the Sterling 10.5" axle and the M275 (optional on the F-250on the 350's (or M300 on DRW). Ford also has a new 11.6" Sterling, but I haven't seen a definitive application guide for it.

So I guess I won't be surpised with either course of action from Ram.

Yeah, hard to know what they're really going to do. We probably won’t know for sure until someone opens one up.

Yeah the Hemi option needed to be 430/485 and it would have stayed competitive. Instead they went the other direction a little bit. I just don't understand this company.

GM/Chev has 6.6L gas with 401HP, Ram has 6.4L with 405HP, Ford has 7.3L gas with 430HP. Less than 30HP difference, I wouldn't say that being less than 30HP short of the max is not competitive. FWIW, I have a Chev 3500 SRW with the 6.6L gasser, and it feels much slower than my brothers F350 SRW with 7.3L. Don't have any experience with the Hemi in a 2500/3500

Anyone else pick up that I think they are switching the Hemi back to column shifter.

“A new electronic column shifter and TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission are standard on both engines”

My 22 6.4 has a bigger alternator than the the 25's do.
HP ratings are based on standard equipment. 2022 had 180 amp alternator standard. 2025 has 200 amp alternator standard. Assuming no tuning changes on the 2025 hemi, that’s where 5 rated HP would have gone.

Another minor detail I am pretty sure I heard while watching the TFL video is they moved to an electronic parking brake. Almost 100% sure I heard it whir off when the truck was placed in drive.

You'll hear it at about the 7:30 mark. Wonder if that means an extra step to remove the rear rotor for service.

From that video, when he gets into that truck:

Ahhh, that makes sense. I wasn't considering the alternator in the HP numbers. I retract my pervious cynicism, though I still predict a similar outcome.

Would a higher output alternator really make a difference? It seems it would only make a difference if both engines were tested with the alternators providing full output. But there wouldn't be much of a difference if both alternators were providing the same output. I admit I don't know if testing is done with no alternator output, some standard output, or full rated output.

5hp is an awfully big loss for 20A of capacity increase, if it was alternator based it should be closer to 1hp.

Nice find.

Cool that they are finally doing relatable CHSML Camera(I know some people have done DIY relocate already)….Wonder if it’s just a kit you can buy from the dealer and if it’s retrofitable…the CHSML camera on mine is all but useless with the topper. I wouldn’t mind relocating it to the back of the topper or perhaps some kind of offroad view (I already have the surround cameras though)
