My New Ram 3500 arrived Damaged

Well, I understand your frustration, but, until RamCares communicates with the dealership General Manager........... what do you expect them to tell you ??
You're definitely not committed to take delivery of the truck in those conditions, and the dealership did not call you to come and pick up your truck neither.

Just relax and see how it unfolds, accidents happens, people make mistakes....... I'm sure they will take care of you.

I understand where you are coming from. But there are things you aren't aware of that dealer and I agreed upon on immediate arrival of the vehicle (I don't need to go into details here). I was on the way to lunch and passed the dealer and took a glance from the road, I didn't see it so I kept on going. For some strange reason as I was passing their old body shop about 3 blocks away I caught a glimpse of something that made me think of my truck and turned around. That is when I realized it was sitting sort of hidden behind another car (who knows what might have happened it I hadn't spotted it sitting at their old body shop. Would they have told me or just fixed it? I wish I could read minds, but I can't. See picture in first post.

Very common that they will ship it damaged. A buddy of mine fixes brand new cars and trucks at his body ship that arrvie damaged. 99% of the time the buyer never knows about it. I'm thinking they were going to try that in this case.

I had heard something like this at one time or another. I have had an owner of a dealership near me say that if the new vehicle is not sold yet, and it has suffered some sort of damage, that they will repair and DO NOT have to report it, so an unsuspecting customer will not see any report of damage on Carfax, for example. I guess a consumer just has to hope the dealership would be up front about things like this.

1. Sorry that some IDIOT with zero respect for others put you in this situation.

2. My 2020 RAM 2500 Big Horn had some minor damage when I accepted it. There was a small door ding (that wasn't there the night before when I checked it on their lot). It also had three dents in the roof. I was asked why I checked the roof. My last Chrysler product was a 1995 Town & Country that had roof damage (found that a week later when cleaning/waxing). My 2500 damage was repaired (paint-less dent remover on the door and painted roof). I don't like that it was painted and it took four days to make repairs that were caused by the RAM/FCA system.

3. If I had it to do over, I wish that I would have walked away! I did a report through RAM Cares and stated that this was NOT the right way to start our relationship. I also complained about the TAN upper interior trim when it was ordered with Black/Grey interior. Watching recent U-Tube RAM HD videos, it appears that several are now that way. Just another DUMB product manufacturing decision! My hope now is that the truck is better mechanically than the poor manufacturing and delivery system.

4. Best of luck to you in making you decision as well as with your truck. I made the decision to accept mine, but would NOT have done so with other than minor damage.

Get the money back. Scrap the Caddy Clyde.

Find a new dealer.

Well, I just got home, I have been to several other Ram Dealers today with a copy of my window sticker form the refused truck. They all were within a grand or so of each on the same truck and the same within a grand of the same on the trade in price as well.. Now I will wait until Friday when the regional manager is suppose to drop by and look it over. I will at least see what they are offering before I hold my hand out to get my deposit back.

BTW,
Another dealer brought something to my attention and wanted to know why I didn't order ADAPTIVE STEERING SYSTEM (SJE) on my built truck. Well I guess that was something that the dealer told me was already in a package. ? ? $273.00 Once I got home I looked on my build sheet and it was there. GO FIGURE or have they made changes with what is in the packages?

Also he told me that the TRAILER TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS (XG9) were not in a package and it is available to order now (Do I Believe Him Or Not. LOL) ? ? $314.00 They were not on my build sheet. SEE IMAGE BELOW

I guess there were some things the ordering dealer left off my order for some reason ?

I bought my first Ram (Dodge Ram) in 2003. It was a quad cab, 5.7 HEMI long bed. The wife and I were shopping for a Dakota when we realized there was only about $3,000 difference between the two. So we decided to get way more truck for our money. I think we paid about $29,000 - $30,000

Anyway, we bought it and brought it home at night. The next day I noticed some slight damage on the rear quarter panel. Nothing like the OP, more like someone rubbed against something that resulted in waves in the sheet metal and some scratches. I brought I back to the dealer pretty PO'd. They did the right thing by repairing it with a life time warranty for the repair and gave me some window shades for free.

Before we came to the deal I was pressing them for an entirely new bed. They replied that they can repair damaged new vehicles up to 10% of their value before they ever have to report it as damaged to the buyer. So I suspect this happens more than we might think it does. But most of the time it gets delivered to the body shop for an extra day or two and the buyer never knows the difference.

Is it wrong? Maybe. Is it reasonable? Maybe. But nonetheless as a buyer it's upsetting when you plop down or commit a ton of money for something "brand new" only to realize it's been repaired already.

In the end, within 550 miles I dented the tailgate rather disturbingly in three spots while trying to load a quad into the bed. Ah, such is life. I kept that truck for 10 years and had 182,000 miles on it when I sold it for $3,500. It all ended well.

Always, always go through the order, both before and after it's placed, with your dealer to double check that everything is there. I've had to make a dealer change things after the order was placed once because the sales manager assumed something was included in a package even though I'd given them every single item and package code. Sometimes it just slips through but you're going to the trouble and waiting for a custom build so make sure you get exactly what you want.

I went over it with them several times and the dealer didn't even have it listed in the DealerConnect Software at the time I placed the order. Then I started reading everyone was missing it. I went back to the dealer to confirm and they started getting a little irritated with me as many times as I kept asking, I even told them it wasn't going to be there, so I just waited until the vehicle showed up.. Now I have the order coded and hope the dealer will fix it seeing they have to order a replacement anyway. (see post #1 & 26) (XG9 code)

1FastHemi: Wow... So sorry for your situation.
I was really interested in your conversations with the other dealers and your new sample build sheet. I had the same question about Adaptive Steering (which shows up on the dealers configurator as an extra cost option.) I checked the online windows stickers on many 2020s sitting on dealer lots across the country and found that Adaptive Steering is almost always included as a component of one of the "option packages". Take a look. Possibly the "SJE" option might be for a Tradesman or higher trim models when option packages are not ordered.

I was really shocked to see "XG9" on your new build sheet. This is the first time I have seen Trailer TPMS on any document so far. Tomorrow, I'm going to my dealer to see if I can finally get my order placed with it on their build sheet!

My suggestion is print off a copy the page I posted above and take it with you, and a copy of the window sticker from post #1 and that way you can show it to the dealer quoting you. The window sticker is from the truck that came in damaged with out the Trailer Tire Pressure monitors but the Build sheet if he can run the VIN show that truck with adaptive steering. This option did show available in the DealersConnect Software. Of course once he submits it as a sold unit, Ram can notify the dealer if it isn't available about a week after he submits it, This could leave us disappointed it this happens. I read somewhere on this forum that the TTPMS might be available on builds after 3-1-20, but can't find it again. I have learned to never believe these things until I see it in person or get it in my hand.

Now the quote from yesterday posted just a couple of posts above shows that option available in his dealers connect but he said that build did not have Adaptive Steering in any of the packages so the DealersConnect software didn't have it grayed out so he has to add it for me to have which raised the price ? ? ? I am a little Leary about that dealer due to that item.... I just went back to the Build & Price on the Ram site and choose the 2020 year Laramie Longhorn it show the Adaptive Steering Standard in the Safety Group. Go Figure ?????

I think if the dealer should be able to sell this one for at least $76,177 instead of $77,693 + tax if he really wants the sale. The should be able to at least give you the (HB) Hold Back money off the Total Sales Price from the Right column. A lot of dealers won't show you the sheet with the (HB) visible on it. Keep in mind the (HB) dollar amount vary depending on your build.

Just food for thought and be careful with those car sharks. LOL

I ordered a new Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn weeks ago and it was delivered to dealer DAMAGED. I found it this morning down the street from the showroom on the back of a lot not visible from the street. I called the dealership and they acted surprised and had no idea it had been delivered. I told them what I found and it took them almost an hour come over to the truck. I informed them I WAS NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE. Then I asked them what they were going to do. I was informed they would have an answer Friday or Monday as the General Manager was out of town due to family illness. I put 2k down when I placed my order and the dealership is still holding on to it so far as I haven't asked for it back yet.

A friend in a body shop estimated the damage arround 10k as the bed shows signs if twisting.

What would you do if you were in my place? I just hate waiting about another 10 weeks and loosing some Discount coupons that expire near the end of this month.

BTW: The truck was suppose to have Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring and CD/DVD. Neither of them were on the vehicle.

Hi 1FastHemi,

I am very sorry to hear of the frustration that has been associated with your ordering experience. Please know that I just had a chance to follow up with your private message.

Mark, Thanks for getting back with me as I just sent you more info on my thought in the private message. I hope this can be of more help.

I just ordered my 2020 RAM 3500 Limited Crew Cab LB DRW at the dealer this AM because the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor System (XG9) was actually on the dealer's build site for ordering!!!
This is the first official document I've found that actually included the order code XG9 on anything. Now am waiting to hear RAM confirm that they can actually build my unit with that code.
Neither the XFQ (Aux Camera Wiring) or XG9 (above) options are on the web builder - but they are available to order at the dealer! Finally...

Thanks to 1FastHemi for discovering this yesterday and posting his build sheet (which I did take with me to the dealer - ha ha). Even though this delay probably messes up your plans, it's nice to have a "do-over" on the ordering process in case you now want even more options...

BTW, during the ordering process, I confirmed that Adaptive Steering is included in the Limited's "Level 1 Equipment Group" (A69) and that the Max Tow Package (AJL) still includes the Mopar 30K hitch. It went missing from the Max Tow Package components list on the RAM build site the last time it was updated...

Congrats on your order ! ! ! ;) I most definitely will have the items on my next re-order of the replacement Ram if I even get a Ram replacement. The dealer where my damaged Ram is won't talk to me now it seems, So I got mad and showed my A** in their showroom and left. I am going around talking and getting prices from other places including Ford and GMC. I am now 2 states away going in to another Ram dealer to see what they will do. I might even just keep my 2008 Ram 3500 with 80,k on it instead of buy another, who knows what I will do after I calm Down

Autonation Corporate has yet to call me back But I did hear from @RamCares here on the forum. It looks like it is put back on the selling dealer even though it was damaged in Mexico before it got put on the rail. If a company won't call you back or offer a good solution, even though you have been loyal to Mopar since 1970, why do business with them. I have always been a very calm person to everyone with a good sense of humor but now that this has happened I feel like being an A** to car dealers now even though I know I shouldn't.

Sorry for my rant to you all but this ordeal has raised my blood pressure and got me in a bad frame of mind. I know it just a pricey hunk if metal but it is the situation and lack of caring.

Seeing that I am in New Orleans I might just go the the French Quarter and have a good time for the next few days and calm down.. Bottoms Up Everyone! I might have a drink for all of you.

Dang, getting the run around makes a tough situation worse but there is certainly a positive outcome around the corner, even if it's just placing a new order for another truck.
In the meantime definitely take advantage of you current environment to help bring some calming relief

Your contract when you ordered a New truck was to receive a new truck. They have no choice but to reorder and have their rep jump you in line. Happened to me back in June. Had another one show up with 33 days.

I thought I was the only one with tan upper pieces in my gray interior. Just figured it was part of the lowly Tradesman package.
