My New Ram 3500 arrived Damaged

Your contract when you ordered a New truck was to receive a new truck. They have no choice but to reorder and have their rep jump you in line. Happened to me back in June. Had another one show up with 33 days.

I went by the dealers lot yesterday (Thursday) and the Sales Manager mentioned that he thought Ram had agreed to take the damaged vehicle back. :)

He asked me to come back this afternoon (Friday) as he should have more info on getting a replacement Truck with items I had wanted that somehow weren't on the previous truck, and the General Manager would be in then as well. :)

Now I have to work out the Additional Discounts that were offered to me from Sam's Club and Ram that expire in just a couple of days. Who know if I will also loose out on the Allstate deal either.

"The HOFF", Thanks for mentioning what they worked out for you as I will be asking dealer to do the same.

When I find out more I will be keeping all of you posted, and thanks to everyone for helping me through this rough ordeal !

Mine showed up with about 7-10 small dimples in the roof. I took it back to the dealer and they offered painless dent removal. This was late November so I figured I would have them fix it at the first LOF. I didn't want some clown flexing the piss out of my 20°f paint. Apparently the dealer had lent it out for a HS homecoming parade so I imagined some amped up jock pounding the sh*t outta my roof. I actually prefer a minor amount of damage on my new cars. Takes some of the sting out of the first inconsiderate soul that door dings it..

Well, I went by the dealer Friday Afternoon 2-14-20 and the dealer still doesn't know what he is going to do. I am getting frustrated over this as the problem wasn't mine. I am even contemplating telling the dealer where to go and Keep my 2006 Ram 3500?

I will go back by there Monday Afternoon and see if they have made up their minds yet.

As far as the extra discounts that are expiring soon, I'm not having any luck with getting them extended.

Wish me luck !

Update:

I went by my dealer this morning, the General Manager informed me that I must have gotten someone's attention with "FCA (I believe he said)". He stated they would be in town tomorrow, Tuesday to discuss what they were going to do.

I will update you all after we have the meeting tomorrow.

Well, I just got home, I have been to several other Ram Dealers today with a copy of my window sticker form the refused truck. They all were within a grand or so of each on the same truck and the same within a grand of the same on the trade in price as well.. Now I will wait until Friday when the regional manager is suppose to drop by and look it over. I will at least see what they are offering before I hold my hand out to get my deposit back.

BTW,
Another dealer brought something to my attention and wanted to know why I didn't order ADAPTIVE STEERING SYSTEM (SJE) on my built truck. Well I guess that was something that the dealer told me was already in a package. ? ? $273.00 Once I got home I looked on my build sheet and it was there. GO FIGURE or have they made changes with what is in the packages?

Also he told me that the TRAILER TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS (XG9) were not in a package and it is available to order now (Do I Believe Him Or Not. LOL) ? ? $314.00 They were not on my build sheet. SEE IMAGE BELOW

I guess there were some things the ordering dealer left off my order for some reason ?

Hi,

Care to tell me about:

Manual/Force Re-Gen Enabled (Is this a CC only thing?)
Cruise Control Min set speed 5mph (I've heard of AlphOBD users doing this)
Modified Turning Radius (I'm clueless and google/duckduckgo searches aren't being helpful)

Manual/Force Re-Gen Enabled (Is this a CC only thing?) (Manual DPF Regeneration)
You will see it listed in the chassis Cabs but not on the 3500 option list.. I was told once it gets enabled in the Engine/Chassis computer, It will also show up under the Commercial settings on the dash display.. This will allow you to do a Re-gen any time you want to providing the vehicle meets all the programmed settings. This Re-gen should do a deeper re-gen the the one that happens while your driving.... I have this option on 18 wheeler I own and it does a fantastic job. See option in the following link:

Cruise Control Min set speed 5mph (I've heard of AlphOBD users doing this)
I had this done on my last truck. Normally you cruise control wont let you enable the cruise control below I think 20 mph.. I have a friend in service that can change this to 5 mph which will allow me engage the cruise as lower a mph.
I go in some chemical plants where the speed limit in their is around 5 mph. this way I won't get kicked off the property for speeding.

Modified Turning Radius (I'm clueless and google/duckduckgo searches aren't being helpful)
My friend in service modified my last truck's suspension (requires grinding) so the wheels can turn further in both directions before the hit the stops. There are 2 spots on each side (4 Total) of the suspension where I guess you call it the Steering Knuckles, it bumps another part of the axle I think. You have to be careful as if you grind off to much you can have more issues if you turn to tight with your 4 wheel drive is engaged you could do damage. You could also have tire clearance issues as well.

I don't recommend anyone doing this unless you know what your are doing and how much you cam do to it !

I hope they will compensate all your troubles with at least a $ 15K rebate, off a brand new truck or build / order.
Good luck on your meeting tomorrow !!

I wish, I did hear something through the grape vine, I think they are planning on offering and they will still want me to take the damaged truck after they fix it.. LOL and it wasn't built with some of the options I asked for.

Who wants to take a NEW, REPAIRED tow vehicle that will also be listed in Car-Fax to car shows, and enter it along with one of my other show cars. I would never win, as some of the members are following what is going on with all this..

Stick to your guns. You didn't do anything wrong.

Use you best sense of judgement, "money talks" and you're on the perfect position to do so.

Just a note on the headliner... I am fairly certain tan is the standard. To get the black, you need to do the sport appearance group. Not sure why they think the two-tone looks good, but, it is the norm as far as I know.

Good luck. In the grand scheme of things, 8-10 weeks isn't that long. The damage is one thing, but, if it's missing options, I would wait. If mine could have been re-ordered with the TTPMS and Trailer Cam, I would have done so, but, as an early adopter, it wasn't feasible. I know others have issues, but, I love my truck, it's worth the wait.

Update: :)

I just left the dealer a few minutes ago and had a Pow Wow with the Regional Manager, General Manager and Parts Manager with the Sales Manager kept in the loop.

After I refused to take the damaged vehicle and the other offering that would have been associated with that, we all got down to business.

The Regional Manager made some offers and I did the same, after tossing them around it seems we came to deal with me getting a Replacement Truck.

The GM at the dealership and I did the same and we may have made a deal. Just a couple of things to work out and I think he will be ordering me a new vehicle with the following additions: Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Deployable Bed Step, and Dual 220A alternators added on to the same build.

I will keep you all updated when I find out more in a few days.

Thanks again for everyone's including Mark with @RamCares assistance and support on this situation !

Update :

I went by the dealer today to try to get the new build started and spotted the the damaged truck out back behind the body shop with the bed removed. I guess they are going to put a new bed on it.... See Pictures below.

I went up to the sales department to see my salesperson, and found out he no longer works there? Then I saw the GM and it looks like I will be ordering a new truck on or around Friday, March 6, 2020. We have just a few more minor things to work out before we place the new order.

I will keep you all posted on the situation as it unfolds.

8 bolts, a couple wiring harness plugs.... Changing a bed is a simple bolt on one hour job. I'm sure the next purchaser will love his new truck. And you'll love your next order with the added features. Everybody wins!
