Moryde Goosetech

I don't know who makes the frames for Grand Design but chances are good it's Lippert. You'll want to make sure whatever goose box you get won't void the frame warranty. I've got the Reese Goose Box and really like it a lot. I've got both the B&W ball which is nice because it and it's chain anchors fit in a bespoke case which sits in the front storage of my 5er. I've also got a Gen Y offset ball that isn't nearly as small and light, nor does it store as easily though it is lightyears better than a regular 5th wheel hitch. There is a newer generation of Gen Y ball that appears to be lighter, has the safety chain hooks incorporated and uses the holes closest to the tailgate. Quite the improvement. I've used the B&W with no problem, but the Gen Y offers a peace of mind that is difficult for me to ignore.
Another reason to choose the Gen Y over the B&W is it provides more room between the tailgate and camper front storage door. This can be important if your approach angle is not perfectly straight on.

There are several versions of Lippert frame(s). I own a 150 series GD(think light-er) and the only approved replacement for the crappy Lippert/Curt Turning Point pin box is the Gen-Y Executive. Sucks for us.

You don't like the Gen Y?

Gen-Y does make a turning point compatible hitch, but I have not seen anything stating Lippert endorses the Gen-Y product. Any reference to where they do endorse it’s use?

Lippert doesn't endorse Gen Y. Although Gen Y had done testing with Lippert, they wanted big money to approve Gen Y Hitches and Gen Y decided it was not a good business decision I guess. I read on some of the Grand Design forums that Gen Y passed the testing with flying colors. But of course this is all forum talk so take it for what you want.

I have a lot of miles on mine.

That's what I was thinking, not officially approved.

No and Reese is only approved probably because Lippert is their distributor - I am sure Reese doesn't want any competition in the "approved" area.

So I do not put a lot of weight in Lippert "approving" a hitch....when money is a driver...
