LED light in tailgate handle

Got mine working, bought the harness and handle of a 2022 Limited vin. Everything plugged up, except no power wire from the body bed harness side. I ended up depinning it (from purchased tailgate harness side) and tapped into the oe drivers side bed light for power. So the tailgate handle turns on with the bed lights and highmount cab light. I could tap into the reverse lights too with a inline diode, but I have external reverse LED cubes I installed for that purpose. I merely completed this because I wanted a completely white color matched handle anyway and the led strip adds a that "cool" accent lighting when unlocking your truck at night.

Nice job! Can you provide part numbers for everything you bought, and a quick sketch wiring diagram of what you did?

Also can you post a photo of how well it illuminates the ground around the back of the truck when the tailgate is down?

Are these part numbers you posted just for the white truck that you have or did you have to have them painted to match your truck’s color?

Hello! I was asking the person with the white truck if those 3 parts are what’s needed to install this light.

The handle part number I posted was for a textured black handle from earlier in this thread.

I think the black handle is 7KJ40KXJAA.

Correct my truck is white PW7 so I found a 2022 Limited with same PW7 paint code and ordered parts from that vin. If you want a color matched handle color to your truck you have to get the textured black handle and have it painted or find a truck with same paint code and order by that vin. Here is the part number for the white PW7 handle which will accommodate the LED light.

If I need it in reverse, I'll just hit the bed light button and it comes on.

Looks good! Now Im debating on adding the digital rear view camera to the truck. Thats a bigger price tag though.

I think your 1500 has completely different wiring than our 2500 & 3500's.

Anybody know if you can get just the LED light connector as a pigtail? Do they use that connector somewhere else on the truck?

here it is connected and everything works fine the blue connector is the one for the new auxiliary light waiting to be ship

Hi body ,, I’m new in this page and I’m looking to intake the tailgate light , can you explain how do that , I have installed the handle already just need the wired connection???
